I have a very old HP laser printer, the kind that takes the big toner cartridges.  It's not working perfectly and I either need to repair it or replace it.  I'm wondering what everyone is using these…Continue

Gwen Brass replied to Faith Pitino's discussion Charging for a "Sealed Original" in the group Court Reporting Agencies
"There are laws for each state governing what you do with the sealed original.  It isn't something the attorneys 'order' willy nilly.  Perhaps the attorneys mean something else (attorneys love making stuff up to demand of you…"

"I had an agency tell me to write e-mail with a hyphen, but I like it without.   Merriam-Webster has x-ray (verb) and X-ray (noun).  But, again, I've seen it all different ways.   Sometimes I think only reporters care."

"Email.  This is because that's the industry term.  Also, it looks more concise to me.  Not completely sure the other is wrong, though.  I wouldn't squawk if an agency wanted me to write e-mail.  "

Email or E-mail?

I was taught in reporting school (early '80s) that you used xray as a noun and x-ray as a verb.  For instance, "Would you hand me the xray, please" versus "They x-rayed my leg."Now I'm wondering about email versus e-mail.  I've looked online and it can go both ways apparently.  Does anyone apply the noun versus verb rule to the use of email/e-mail?And just out of curiosity, do you all use xray/x-ray in the same manner I do?See More

Yay! I'm glad you liked the digital birthday card. I chose the flowery one especially for you since you do floral designs. :)

Hope you have a great year ahead of you! ALL THE BEST!

Gwen, I won't be at the WA/OR/ID convention this weekend, but Sara Cross (also a Magnum Steno reporter) said to keep an eye out for her. She'll keep an eye out for you too.
