I went cold turkey, without taking my laptop, LOL. It went great! Only had a couple of issues:
Had problems finding the machine with the bluetooth. . . Took me a minute of trying to connect the machine to finally decide to check that my bluetooth was on, LOL. So that will be the first thing I do from now on when I get to a job. It is very easy, you just click on the bluetooth icon at your desktop.
The second issue was a Case issue. It froze! (I honestly think I had clicked on too many things...using my finger and it can 'miss' the mark and I click something else, lol) I just had them wait so I could open Case back up. Otherwise, the day went by nicely. I had Parole Boards and it was the longest day I have ever done. Went from 830 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. which was not too bad with my amplifier thing! I was not tired when we were done. I love that thing! Again, I posted information about it. . An amplifier from Radio Shack. . . . In another post on ergonomics/etc.
it is strange getting used to the tablet, I will say. Everything is so small. I use my finger to touch the screen instead of getting the pen out to touch it. Sometimes my finger is not placed just right and it takes a few times of touching to open whatever I am trying to open or do. I am figuring that out though. I loved not having to haul everything, but may still get my wheelie cart out when I have to carry it far. Even just eight pounds is a lot when you're walking through snow and up little hills and such. But at least I have a choice to just carry it on really bad snow days instead of fighting the wheels in the snow!
I will get a smaller extension cord, as the one I have is pretty large and too big to fit into the carrying case that came with the machine. I also figured out I can't put my cords in the section with the machine. . . Makes it too fat. . . So I just put them on the outside section, not a big deal. But the zipper was splitting when I had them in the machine part. I only have the plug for the tablet and my amplifier cords. Not too much, but enough to make it too fat. The machine is very protected in the case. I did keep the cushion from the tablet's shipping and place that between the machine and the tablet stand so the machine doesn't get scratched, as you have to fold down the stand to put it into your case.
I have to say, it was faster setting up and that was nice as we had to go to a different facility after lunch and continue the boards. It was nice not to have the laptop and my laptop table and all that to also tear down and reset-up. And I was in a very small room in Attica for the a.m. boards, so my laptop really wouldn't have fit! I had a student CR sitting in with me, and we could not have fit all of my old equipment too! So it was Heaven to have this, LOL.
Oh, and it was really nice to come home and not have to set-up my laptop! That has always felt like a pain, LOL, as I have so much hooked up at home to it.
