Okay. I'm sorry that there may have been a blog about this in the past, but I am really truly thinking about hopping on the LS train. I do have an Elan Mira A3, one of the most expensive writers out there you can get. Therefore, I am really nervous about possibly "downgrading". I know it seems silly just to base it on the prices, but it just makes me wonder if the LS is the thing for me. I don't use the audio or the screen on my A3, because I'm always hooked up to my laptop anyway. So really there is nothing special that the A3 does that I need it for. I am concerned about not liking the feel of the LS though or not being able to get used to it.

Does it really help you to go faster?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!!

The only thing I don't have doubled in my bag is a computer. This bag already weighs a ton (I know it shouldn't since I have the LS, but I have a lot of redundancy, and my depo book adds to it too) and the idea of even adding a mini to this makes me cry.

Now, to have TWO minis, I could do that! If I could afford it. Have to be careful about what to get, though. You need at least 1GB HD or SSD, 2 would be better.

I also love my LS ~ took some time to get used to such a light touch (and I'm not a pounder) and get the sensitivity worked out, but now it's great!! It's so light and easy to use on the tripod or your lap ~ I got a lap pad from Pengad that tilts it up and it couldn't be more comfortable to sit back at the end of a long depo and just write :)

Brenda, I was just thinking yesterday, do you keep an extra laptop w/ you, just in case you have a malfunction? I don't and in my about 15 years of reporting, I've only had a computer not work once on a job, but I was thinking that it may be a good idea to have an extra w/ the LS (maybe I just need an excuse to buy a new laptop;))

I love mine. As everyone knows. Kinda bridled at the "downgrading" comment. ;) When the next generation of LS comes out, if there is a screen and audio, I very well may just stick with the one I have. I don't need those things; my computer is there for that. I like the fact that my writer is light and streamlined -- and a dream to write on.

I would love to go test one out, but I live in Upstate NY. There isn't anyone around here that has one, that I know of. But that is something I would love to do.

Yes..it's worth it. It saves your arms. Yes, there is a learning curve. All things good are worth waiting for! I have a Mira and love it, too, but there is no comparison for the physical comfort my Pink Pearl LS has given me in my arms, shoulders, & neck. Go write on one to see what you think. It only takes a butterfly kiss to activate the strokes.
