Hey girl - how's it going for you this quarter? We're not in speed building this quarter together. I kinda miss seeing everyone. Hope things are rocking along great for you. Talk 2 u later!!
Hang in there then as it is a wonderful career, and although a few years seems like eternity at your age, it really is just a very small part of a much larger picture.
Adrienne, you know the old saying about nothing worth having being free? Well, the same applies for court reporting. Nothing about it is easy, cheap, much less free, but if you want it bad enough, hang in there, and you will reap the rewards.
I suggest you be brutally honest with yourself, though, and ask yourself if this is what you really want because you've got a long, hard road ahead of you. I won't lie and tell you anything else. But if it's what you truly want, it's a road worth traveling. Only you can decide what's best for you.
Good luck to you. And, yes, it is everything I thought it would be, only harder, but given the choice, I'd do it all over again the exact same way!
I hear ya!!! Me too. Things are going ok. I'm just desperately needing a break and want to come back with a better attitude. I say that every semester, but this time I really mean it. I am going to start next semester with a much more positive attitude.
Adrienne, I think I wrote back to you today and misspelled your name, sorry. Yeah I am doing eh, but sticking with it. I just need to discipline myself to get on my machine more................=)
Hey, I know you dont know me, but I was leaving a comment on my girl Veronicas page, and seen what you wrote. I got some advice for you, if its just a mistroke and you know you can still make it out, then stop correcting it, or more like, dont try to correct it more then once. Like if you messed up, try to fix it, but then let it go and hope you can read it.Mrs. Vezina used to say that, never try to correct it more then once, or you'll drop too much. Maybe what you should do is, split your practice up, like I do. Like half the time you practice strive for accuracy and then the other time just strive to get every word. But if you are a perfectionist, and i bet you are since thats what kind of people are attracted to this field, then you will just have to make yourself do the speed thing and not try to correct everything cause thats when you drop and you dont gain speed. I dont know the splitting thing seems to work for me, hey at least i tried, lol. Anyway learning briefs and phrases helps a lot too, and in q&a learning the extensions will really help. Anyway thought I'd give the advice thing a try, Charlene, hope you gain speed quick and then we can just call you lighting, lol.
Congrats. You know when moved into the 80/100s class after theory C and didn't even know what they meant by briefs. Now on campus they are starting to teach briefs in 60s. I don't know how you feel about briefs but some are great to use. I wish my instructor would have been over briefs in theory C.
