Hello!
I'm doing some research for a seminar I'm doing, and I just had to share some info I found with my fellow Technolusters.

It's a service that tracks your laptop if it's stolen, and it allows you to covertly download and delete files from a stolen computer. It's $9.95 per month for two computers. I've never used it myself, but it looks pretty slick. The site says a laptop is stolen every 12 seconds, which kind of makes my heart skip a beat. Yikes!

For reporters, the ability to recover a transcript that wasn't backed up would be incredibly valuable. I worry about transcripts and family photos more than passwords, but if anybody stores bank info on a laptop, that could be pretty scary to have that info compromised. The service also comes with a big police-looking official sticker to put on your laptop to hopefully scare someone away from stealing it in the first place.

Ooooo. That is cool. Very snazzy
I just heard this happening to a reporter and attorney here in San Diego. They were taking a depo in a hotel conference room. When they left for lunch, they were told the room would be locked up. Someone came in and stole the computers. I've been nervous about stepping away from my computer ever since. Thanks for the info! This is great!
Oh, my gosh, I can't imagine! I just read a whitepaper about laptop security, and it says to treat your laptop like cash. Just don't leave it anywhere at all. I think that's good advice.
