I'm looking for a computer and not sure what to get.  I've always had Dells, and I currently have one that is 2 years old with problems.  At this time, Dell is sending a tech out to give me a rebuilt hard drive.  I'm not happy.  So does anyone have any computer suggestions?  I'm currently on Case Catalyst.

Hey All, I just got a Sony.  Any feedback on that would be great as I have a 7 days to return it.  Had the option to get a Toshibia but keyboard was small.

Cathie, test your audio and make sure it is working and gives records a good quality sound.
Janiece,  I did test it without my external mic in the store.  It sounded good when listening back on earphones but definitely not with the computer speakers.  The Toshibia was the same.  I think you said you had a Sony, right?  How did you like it?  Did you switch to another brand and why?
I have a Sony Vaio and am happy with it.  But I do have to use earphones to hear the audio.  It records fine, just doesn't play fine.
Judy, have you ever tried a Boostaroo?  The're great to amp up listening.
Yes, I use a Boostaroo to monitor the audio during a depo, but I haven't taken it out of my case to use it during scoping.  I just have a pair of earphones that I plug in and that does the trick.
I use my Boostaroo when editing.  It amps up the sound.

I would load my CAT software on the computer and test out the audio through my CC or Eclipse, just like if you were at a depo and see how it sounds.  Sometimes recording it through the actual CAT software gives a different quality recording than just recording on the Windows software.

I have had great luck with Toshibas (but that computer is five years old.)  A couple years ago I tried an HP and it was terrible.  i returned it.  I now have a Sony that does a good job but I do use an external mic, the high gain mic that is sold by Martel.  My scopists say that I have really good audio.  I think I do too but I don't know how my audio compares to other people's.

Thanks.  I use the same mic and I love it.  As soon as I can figure out how to get everything transfered to the new comp I will try the audio out again.
Call your software company.  They will help you set it all up and they will help you get the mic set to record correctly too.
Well, you would think they would help.  I can't get help until Monday. :(
Who/what are you on?
