Welcome to CSR Nation
Could someone tell me here or point me to a Web site/document on instructions for Internet streaming of realtime/text? I would like to learn how to do this and have some questions.
1) Do I need special software?
2) Do I need to have my own mobile wireless Internet, or could I rely on using the law firm's wi-fi?
3) Could text streaming only be done with LiveNote, or could it be done with Eclipse and Bridge?
If my questions don't even make sense, it's because I have no idea what I'm talking about. Basically, I just would like to learn how to do Internet streaming.
More specifically and immediately, I need to know how to do text streaming by next Tuesday!!!
Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Since Tuesday is so close in time, I would go with LiveNote Stream Manager. I've uploaded the setup guide here. You will also have to set up a session with West LiveNote. Here is a link that explains how to do that:

They like 48 hours notice, so I'd do that as soon as possible.
You can use the same computer, but if you do that you have to set up the Stream session first on the day of the job. It won't work if you set up your CAT realtime file first. I've had issues at times using the same computer so I sometimes bring a second computer to use as the server. I've found it's better to have a wired connection to the internet at the law office. I know they recommend that to avoid any wireless connection issues.
When you have more time to look into it, Eclipse offers TeleView for $199 or MyView for $299 with a current support contract.
Courtroom Connect also offers wireless sessions. You would have to install the Cat Shuttle software on your computer to use that.
If you need any help with setup, let me know.
Thanks for your reply, Janet. I agree; I don't have much time to get it set up and tested to ensure it's going to work. I don't think it would be a good idea for me to try to get it going on THE day of the job.
I clicked on the Stream Manager Setup that you've attached, but my Firefox browser crashes every time. I'm not sure what the problem is. Would you mind e-mailing it to me, please: qdcsr at aol dot com.
I am on Eclipse. I have the LiveNote Stream Manager: Getting Started Guide, but that is not helping me much. Is there a fee for streaming with LiveNote?
There is a fee for the session. I can't remember if it's $60 per attendee or what it is. I'm sure they'll tell you!
You have to provide West LiveNote the e-maill addresses of all participants. They will then charge by the number of people attending. I will e-mail the guide to you. LiveNote should let you get into the session and test beforehand.
Thanks for the help, Janet!
I will review the setup guide as soon as I get a chance, although I think it may be too late for Tuesday. :(
Janet, have you used TeleView or MyView yet?
Anyone here who uses Eclipse with TeleView/MyView, I would really appreciate your input/direction on how to stream.
Thanks.
No, I haven't tried them yet. Probably 99 percent of the streaming requests I've had are for LiveNote Stream Manager. It's easy enough to use. You can see who is connected. You'll see on the screen on the left a list of e-mail addresses with little head icons next to them. When they are actually connected, the head turns green.
Hello, Quyen. By the looks of the entire thread, you're on the right path to getting the streaming down pat thanks to the knowledgeable folks here at CSRNation. Since you asked about myView, let me direct you to my review of myView. While the feed still disconnects, it's down to only about once a day, if at all. The shortcomings of the software for the iPad have not been fixed at this date (March 31, 2012) although I know programmers are furiously working to have a workable, usable, stable product for realtime via the most popular iPad.
Here's the link to my review of realtime on the iPad. At this point, it is not for streaming:

M.A.
I think Livenote will help you get set up and practice before the depo (not the day of the depo.)
Good to know. Thanks, Janiece.
They're not very responsive over there at LiveNote. I e-mailed them to set up whatever account it said that I need to set up, and no one has responded yet. :(
Perhaps it would be better for me to contact Eclipse and get the TeleView and/or MyView like Janet suggested since I would prefer to use Bridge anyway.
I tried to get LiveNote streaming up once. I contacted them a week before the job and they said they wouldn't help me set it up and test it until the day before the job. Day before rolls around and they couldn't get me hooked up. They had control of my computer for a couple of hours, still a no-go. The firm had to find another reporter for the job.
That being said, I think my problem was I was using Vista at the time. At least that's what I'm told.
I've also heard that TeleView is hard to get up and running. I've heard that Breck Record is one of the only people to have good luck with it.
