When something stops working the way it's supposed to more than once, time for a new computer.

There was one reporter here that posted the link to a Dell laptop with all the bells and whistles she just bought.  I can't find that discussion now.  I wanted to buy what she bought but now can't find where that discussion is.  Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Were were talking about getting great audio with computers and what works best.

Curious. Why not an IBM? IBMs last a long time. Why purchase a laptop that will only last a couple of years? I want to buy another laptop this weekend. You have me second guessing my original choice.

Kathrynne, IBM sold its PC division to Lenovo, which is made in China. I've never owned or even thought of purchasing a Lenovo for that very reason.  I've never known anything made in China to be high quality or durable.  I prefer to buy American (all Dells) . . . even though many of its parts are made in China. *sigh*  Although I do have two Asus netbooks for RT loaners, which I believe are Taiwanese netbooks. So far they have served their limited purpose just fine.

I remember when I first started 25 years ago, my two bosses (small firm) bought this court reporting software that cost 64,000 and it took just as long to translate the job when you got back to the office as it took to take the job down.  You would take the disk out of your writer, go back to the office and the computer at the office would translate it into English overnight.  Then you had to edit it the next day.  So much for dailies.  Must not have had to produce a job quick in those days.

Omg, that is crazy, Kelli!  I don't know how y'all went into this profession way back. I know that if we had to do that today, I would not have lasted more than one or two depos!  :)
