Dental work in Mexico

Has anyone here ever had dental work done in Mexico, like implants?  Or do you know anyone that has?It looks like online there are some dentists trained in the US that work in places like Cancun and other popular resorts.  Their prices are 50 to 70 percent less than the US.

My dad went to a small town in Mexico to have porcelain veneers put on.  In the States it costs 20,000 and in Mexico it cost him only $5,000.  Great deal.

I have a friend, who is from Mexico, who got veneers on her teeth when she went back to visit relatives, and they look really good.  She said it's the same dentist that does all the movie stars in Mexico.   I don't know what city in Mexico.   I could find out for you if you want.

My dad went outside of Laredo about five years ago.  I cannot remember the name of the city.  I'll email him and ask and post what I find out.

Thanks all.  I'm just looking at taking a vacation there (never been there) and getting some dental implants done there.  Would save me a ton of money!

I live 100 miles from the border and personally would never go to Mexico for any kind of medical/dental work. I am very surprised but also very glad to hear of people having good experiences with that.

Only problem with dental implants is they are a multi-step procedure, so I don't know how it would work to go the Mexico.  I am getting an implant done, and they removed the tooth and put in bone graft and then I waited two weeks for a checkup, and now I am waiting months for the implant to be screwed in while they wait for the bone to harden.

I would be very cautious to go to Mexico on vacation.  We went to Rosarita beach seven years ago (drove in), and at least our condo had security guards because there are bandidos around to rob you.   If you go, go to a resort with protection and fly in, it should be okay.  Also on the Yucatan might be nice in those all-inclusive hotels.  There they fence off the beggars and bandits.

My friend got her veneers in Guadalajara.   Also she mentioned to me she is not going  to visit her relatives in Mexico for a while because of the crime (she has had relatives kidnapped - they are rich) but she visits deep in Mexico.  If you were in a resort on the coast, you'd be pretty safe.   I like Hawaii better though, all round.

I would just get the "in bone" part done in Mexico and the tooth/crowns done like six months later back home.I would never do a root canal and a crown on a tooth again, just pull it and get an implant, better investment.
It does look like there's some good dentists, even American trained, in places like Cancun.

I've had lots of dental work at Dental Bernal in Los Algodones (just across the border from Yuma). Included were six implants. I've had them for about five years with no problems.
