Accupressure and kids? Am I being dooped? Love to hear anybody's knowledge of accupressure.

My children suffer from severe allergies: environmental, food, perfumes, etc. . . . .You name it, they're allergic. So when the allergies flare up, the asthma kicks in. It's just awful. My 2-year-old has had pneumonia 3X's this year so far, and my son has asthma attacks!!

Anyway, I found a doctor (that's what he calls himself). He's claiming that he can not only treat allergies, but completely cure them. That my daughter will even be able to eat eggs, which she is severely allergic to. He does this all by performing accupressure on them and somehow correcting their immune system etc.. etc. Well, I went for it, and we're going to start treatments. $50 a treatment, and they'll need around 30 between the both of them. My husband says I have SUCKER writtne across my forehead, but I thought if he's not poking with shots, filling them with medication, and suggesting surgery then it's worth the risk. I feel like my kids are already a walking drugstore.

Does anybody have any experience with accupressure, good or bad? I'd love to hear.

I probably would have tried it, too. I've taken my daughter to an acupuncturist before. Was this person recommended by any of your friends? If you know somebody who has used them, it may convince your husband. I hate to even bring this up, but "duped" is the correct spelling of the word, I'm sorry, but I would want to know. And I agree it is worth a try to get off medications, especially at their young age, when the effects of the drugs may show up when they are much older and it's too late to do anything about it.

But, no, I don't know anyone who's been to him. I read an ad in the newspaper about his office and it caught my eye. I thought what the hey, just go for it.

Well, an interpreter I work with told me about this acupuncturist and she was absolutely wonderful, so I know that type of thing can work if the person is good. Hey, it's worth a try, I think. I paid $60 a time for the acupuncturist here in Houston. She also gave herbs, so that was included in the price. If you decide you are not seeing any effect, you can quit, right? And you are so gracious to accept my spelling correction in good humour.
