Welcome to CSR Nation
Do not work for DCR LITIGATION (Duke Court Reporters) located in Westlake Village. After saying they will pay for one of the few jobs I did for them back in April, I still have not received anything. Excuses after excuses. THEY USED TO POST ON CSR Nation, but I think their reputation is going around.
I just want to warn other reporters out there so they don't end up like me....working for free.
Rocket Reporting is another non-paying agency.

I rreceived a job request from DCR Litigation. Would it be unprofessional of me to let them know I am decling the job because I have heard it it difficult to get paid by them?

Well, here's a new one, reporters - at least, it's the first I'm seeing it. The below is an email I just received today, talking about a 40% decrease in cost to attorneys AND a 35% increase in income for agencies, as if they're not greedy enough. How do attorneys save 40% yet freelance agencies make 35%? Again, it's on the backs of HARD- WORKING reporters.
I hope freelancers out there will finally get fed up with this sort of hocus-pocus from companies like this one. This company…

Does anyone have a workable suggestion for compression for a small ACER
computer. I have tried numerous ones with a Sound Blaster as well, but eveyone seems to be talking underwater! LOL.

I have just finished school for notereading/ scoping/ proofreading and I can't seem to figure out what are some good prices for my services. If I could get some ideas and a few pointers, that would be great!! Are there any extra jobs that my court reporter will ask me to do? Should I do her binding?
Thank you…

Just got my first private client and I'm looking to find out what the agencies use to bind their transcripts. I'm looking to make this as professional as possible and I have heard that VeloBind may be the way to go, however, someone mentioned to me that it may not be admissible in court. Any insights into this? I'm located in NY. Is there a reason that I should or should not use VeloBind? Does anyone know if any of the larger firms are using this and if not what do they use? Any help would…

Thanks everybody for the replies. I found a fantastic scopist through a scopist Mary Alyce, who is fantastic herself.
I can write like the bomb. I just needed someone to read and punctuation and occasional audio.
