CC Scopist Available

Summer is slow in my scoping world!

Looking for a busy court reporter who may enjoy some assistance.

13 years of deposition work.  A multitude of topics!

Perhaps we can get acquainted now while it is a bit slower and hit

the ground running this fall!

You may review my profile within CSR Nation.

Very reasonable rates and high level of attention to files.

Drop me a note at your convenience.

Thank you,…

Horrible StenoCat “scopist” IMO...

Tracy Cortesi. In my professional opinion, unless you want late and incomplete scoping jobs, I do not recommend this gal.

Just horrible.

Other than that, have a great day, peeps!

Cancer and the Court Reporter

On October 18, 2017, I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.  I know, that sounds devastating, doesn't it?  It was, in a way.  But for some reason, it didn't affect  me in the way that it affects most people.  I didn't cry.  I wasn't upset.  I think that comes from being a court reporter.  I sincerely believe that I wouldn't have been as positive if I weren't a court reporter.  As we all know, being a court reporter makes you tough and thicken up your skin.  If you don't have a strong…

Grammar and Punctuation: Dependent Clauses and Introductory Words

A dependent clause is a group of words that have a subject and verb, but do not form a complete thought and cannot stand alone. Introductory words change an independent clause (a complete sentence) to a dependent clause. Take the sentence "I ran." There's a subject and verb, but the absence of an introductory word allows it to be an independent clause. If you add an introductory word like "after," you get "After I ran." That's not to say a fragment like that won't ever wind up in a…

Grammar and Punctuation: Subject and Verbs

This is the first of a series of posts I'd like to use to start detailing proper use of grammar and punctuation. It is crucial in our line of work that we know not only how to use grammar and punctuation, but also that we can properly identify the different parts of a sentence. Much like mathematics, grammar builds on itself and assumes you know the basics. If you understand the basics, knowing the correct punctuation and grammar becomes much easier. With that said, let's get…

Recycling VHS, VCR's, and old tech

Recently I went fishing in a storage closet in my house to find an item I thought my daughter would enjoy playing with, and found 4 medium sized boxes busting with VHS tapes that I had forgotten about. They are not old movies or family videos, no, they are legal video depositions. Each tape consists of a legal case of some kind being told from the…

The Necessary Differences Between Deposition Setups.

The necessary differences between a Legal Video Deposition Set Up and a Court Reporter Deposition Set Up might not seem like a big deal till one realizes the importance of optimum comfort for everyone in the room for the next 2 to 10 hours, give or take.

Comfort is welcomed when one is at work. Court Reporters like to sit at the head of a table so they can see and hear everyone. However, when legal video arrived at the party the set up had to…

Insurance for your equipment/writer

I'm looking for new insurance for my writer/laptop.  I saw the NCRA had sent some information. Does anyone have any recommendations for good and reasonably-priced equipment insurance?

Thank you.
