I have avoided the * key up until two years ago - probably around the time I started sharing Eclipse info with Brenda. Now that I have the Gemini Grand with the wide * keys, I am trying to use them more. For example, adding the * to mean the suffix ly. LAOEUBG - like and LAO*EUBG - likely.,

Today I learned Mark's phrase briefs for do, don't, did and didn't, and I put them all in my main dictionary. I am having a difficult time with them. Am I the only one who is converting over to wide * keys at the same time she is trying to learn these new briefs? I need some encouragement!

Chiming in really late here on this, but I was glad to see my name in print there, Brenda!

Brenda, great minds do think alike. My right side "does" is -DZ and then "did" is *DZ. Now that I'm looking at yours, I see that I can use EUDZ for "I do" and UDZ for "you do" since *most* people will not say "I does" or "you does." Now that I've written that my next depo will have horrible grammar.

I'll have to think about expanding it now. For instance, I guess "did he do" could be STKEDZ. I really have to keep that *DZ consistent with "did" otherwise my brain will scramble. Oooh, my wheels are turning now. This has just opened a floodgate of briefing opportunites. I gotta go lurk around her some more and see what other gems I can find. Gotta grab MS and see how Mark does it.

Oh, and I think that -BGL stroke is the best ever!! Today I had a guy with a hand injury and the word TPHUBGL was a joy to stroke!!
Why not??

Stroke out FREND, and then drop down your ring finger on the -L.

Mark K. encourages you to "build" your words and phrases, especially when they're new to you.

It works great with phrasing. Your fingers just keep going down as the words are being spoken.
Veronica, can you do -PLD? You can then also do -PBLD. It's actually an easier stroke than -PBD because that ring finger hates having to be held up like that! :)
Jenny,
I converted a few years ago and can still have problems, lol. BUT you get used to it! Keep trying!!! It is hardest doing the years in one stroke....I do similar to Mark's way....and getting that * in it to do the '02 for example. But I'm keeping at it as it IS so much easier!! I have the book for MS and I love it!! I am trying to add something new every week or so, after I am strong on the previous ones, lol.
Rhoda, Thanks for the confidence boost. It will take some time, I know. I am truly getting better at hitting my -TD, but not so much the -SZ. I write my numbers out so that's not an issue. Today on my job, if I do one thing, it will be to try for some I didn't, I don't. *EURPLS, *EURPBLGS. I'm going to put it on a post-it!
