This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

Comment by Laura Renke on September 25, 2013 at 18:22: If you've changed LEFT SPEAKER to Mr. Jones and then want to make that Ms. Smith, I've found the easiest way to do that via the speaker table is to first change Mr. Jones back to LEFT SPEAKER in the table. That will change the transcript back to LEFT SPEAKER, and then you'll be able to change LEFT SPEAKER to Ms. Smith without hopelessly messing everything up. You can then define whatever steno you've decided to use for Mr. Jones. I hope this makes sense.

When I set up a speaker in the speaker table under F2, maybe someone else will come in and who I think is going to object, is second chairing. When I try to change that speaker after I put it into the speaker table as one person, it won't let me. Once I put in Mr. Jones and Ms. Smith is first chair, I cannot change it. In V4 I never had a problem. Now it screws up all my speakers. It is such a huge mess now. Once I try to change the LEFT SPEAKER: that was for the defending attorney, once I put in that name V5 and 6 won't let me change it. I'm seriously having issues. Any suggestions?? Please help!! I contacted tech support and the tech had no idea what I'm talking about because he's not a reporter and doesn't understand we have to change the speaker tables frequently when a new person comes in at the last minute and is the person who is going to be objecting all day. Ugy!!!

They did work out a few bugs, also. One that I am happy about is in Auto Brief, when it would give you brief suggestions, it wouldn't keep the capitalization, and now it does. Easy switch
