Eclipse Version 5 Users

This group is for Version 5 users to share what aspects of Version 5 they are using and why.....as well as requests for help as problems arise using Version 5.

I just downloaded Version 5 (a year after it came out), and I feel like I'm learning Eclipse all over again.

Would greatly appreciate input from other Version 5 users.

Thanks, Wynne, for the welcome!  Ask away when you have questions :)

Also, sorry for the error on the other post ~ that "you're" down below in my other post is annoying me.  That's why I have a proofreader ;))

Welcome to the group, Stacy.

I was thinking it'd be nice to have the Auto Briefs in the information bar because I understand you can then have more of them show up that way.

Don't really understand all the AutoBrief settings yet.  Would like to ask you a few questions about that later after I become more familiar with them.

I may try having the bar on during realtime.  It may not bother me that way.

I have been on Eclipse 5 for  a while ~ I really like it.  I have come to get used to the box on the left-hand side.  During a job, I have my auto-briefs there (I've tweaked them to get more of some, less of others.)  I also have the auto magic there, but it disappears when you're cursor is following along and you just see the auto-briefs.  When you page or line up, then the suggestions reappear.  I disable the pop-up box.  I used to re-enable it when editing a job at home, but then started just using the left box and really am used to it and like it.

Oh, oh, Lori!  Tell us which ones you use and why.  Do you use them during realtime or just when editing?

Eclipse 5 works great.  You don't have to use any of the auto-magic features.  I use some of the them, but not all.  I think they would be most beneficial to someone who is new to the software and doesn't know hyperkeys well.  The DropBox thing works great.  I used it recently on a daily, and it was super easy.  I will have to see if I can easily explain the steps to set it up.  Not hard at all.  It only took about 15 minutes to get it going.

Here's what I told Kelli the other day:  If you have time today, I seriously advise you to go ahead and download version 5.  Then call support and have them walk you through doing the update so you are on the latest version.  That update is on the website.  Make sure your path is correct.  The key thing is to keep your version 4.  Simply make a copy of your block files and put them all in version 5.  That way you are keeping your version 4 block files and your version 5 block files separate.  You will only be fetching  - when you are in version 5 - your copied version of your block file so you will never have to convert them over.  Version 5 is great!
