Happy birthday, Kathleen. Hey, we have the same birthday AND we both studied with Stenotype Institute of Jacksonville.
Sorry to say I never made it as a reporter, but I studied ten years with Jacksonville and then tried AIB in Des Moines, Iowa in person. Never passed the last four speed tests to graduate and could never pass the national tests, so I turned to scoping. Hope you make it.
I still love scoping every day, though. And they asked me to teach computer-aided transcription (never heard of scoping back in those days) at AIB. I loved tutoring one-on-one but didn't like the classroom setting.
I'm 59 today (and forevermore) and live with my disabled husband in Wisconsin. Great scenery and I love the cool summer nights after growing up in hot Iowa. And the music community is great around here. I still play clarinet in several bands in the area.
WELCOME TO A WORLD FULL OF OPPORTUNITIES BEYOND YOUR WILDEST EXPECTATIONS. I HAVE BEEN A REPORTER SINCE 1966, AT THE AGE OF 19, AND AN AGENCY OWNER SINCE 1974. REGARDLESS OF THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY, YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE A JOB AND $$$ COMING IN. BUT MOST IMPORTANT, YOU WILL MEET MANY WONDERFUL FOLKS. THE RIDE HAS BEEN FANTASTIC! HOPE YOUR FUTURE AS A REPORTER WILL BE AS BLESSED AS MINE. GOOD LUCK FROM ATLANTA. DENNIS BULL, CCR, RPR
