"Agreed, Amanda.  If you take on that responsibility, be prepared to have to monitor it, turn it off during off-the-record discussions, etc.    You're taking on some liability there."

"Well, there will be no syncing with the transcript that way and the audio quality is probably not that good.   I'm not even sure it would be admissible in court; certified videographers are usually used.  What do I know,…"

What do you think about going to Cozumel, Mexico?

Hi reporters!

Need your opinion.  Our family hasn't been on vacation in years.  We need a vacation.  We used to go to Cozumel, Mexico and loved it.  Is it too dangerous there?  Does anybody have any insight?  Am I worrying too much?

Thank you!!

Wireless Stenocast question using serial, too.

Hello fellow court reporters!!
I have bought Stenocast, wireless realtime. I love it. It has a serial port so you can also use serial for extra
hookups. Has anybody tried this, i.e., wireless and serial at the same time? I tried tonight and it did not work.
I will call support in the morning. Just wondered if any of you wonderful people have tried this.
Thanks!! :)

Dress professionally, please!!

I've been a depo reporter a very long time. I was taught early on to always dress professionally.

I am always glad to see a fellow court reporter in a law firm or office. Lately I keep meeting very friendly

court reporters, but I am shocked to see what they are wearing, i.e., open-toed shoes, (flipflops) spaghetti straps, etc. Please consider what you are wearing. You are representing all of us! You are not on your way to the beach. You are a professional! Save the cutesy stuff for… Continue

Sorry, Lorraine, I didn't get back to you earlier; I was on vacation when you sent me this message.  I walk three-minute miles on the treadmill desk.  That's about as fast as I can walk and still make corrections.  I love it though.

Glad you like the treadmill desk I got.  It is crazy how many miles I'm walking and calories burning.  Great to be able to proof and walk at the same time.  There is no way I could edit a job myself, though, but for proofing it is perfect.  You'll love it!!

Hi, Laurie:
Good to hear from you. I was just in Houston two weeks ago. We were there a week and then went to Puerto Rico for a week. It was GREAT! Give me your number so I'll have it for next time. I will not be in California next week. How about you?

Laurie!!! I am so excited to hear from you. My kids are huge. My baby (we changed our mind about the name at the last minute...he's Sinjin Stone), is walking and talking a little and climbing, the Roxtar is singing and dancing and full of fire. Currently, we have summer visitation with the older girls. We just got back from a roadtrip to Minnesota with all four kids (ages 6, 3, 2, 1), and it took 30 hours one-way. Woohoo. I am shooting video on my own now, and Paul (hubby) is also shooting video for me. We got back from living in ND in February, and our business is pretty good considering we have only gotten our name out by word-of-mouth of a few people. Send some work our way if you hear of any. I miss you. I keep hoping when I go on a Sunbelt job that you will be there.

Hello, Ms. Laurie,
Good to hear from you! How exciting about your daughter in college! Actually when I saw I had a message from your name, I immediately wondered how old your children were now. What college does she attend? How hard of an adjustment was that?
You'll have to indulge me with what you've learned about college searches. We are just now embarking into that arena of our lives. Em is almost 16, and will be a junior this year. We will start driving through some campuses while on vacation this summer.
How is work? Staying busy enough to suit you, yet not run ragged, I hope? I am "comfortable." Best regards, Joy
