I just purchased a book on Amazon.com today. Actually, I purchased 2 books. I am stuck in my 140's and I am completely frustrated. I ordered a book from Katie B. Marsh. It is called, "How I went from 0 to 200 Words Per Minute in 2 Years! An Ex-Congressional Court Reporter Shares Her Secrets to Success." It isn't due out for a few weeks. My hope is that by the time I receive the book , I should be in my 160's. I am anxious to read a different point of view. Just thought I would share....

Hi Christine..
Honestly, nothing against the author, but I am not sure that it gave me more than my school and mentors have given me. The one tip she gives is to log your practice time, this helps. I can't tell you how many times I have said, "I practiced all night." Only later discovering that I only practiced about an hour.
CR school is hard for me, but it will be worth it in the end. I know this.
What speed are you in?

I love that you call yourself a "steno nerd"!

Hi, Natalie & Virginia!

What do you guys think of the book, How I Went from 0 to 200 Words Per Minute in 2 Years! An Ex-Congres...?

Would you recommend it to a fellow court reporting student like myself...? Would love to know your thoughts! Thank you!

Christine

Your 140s is your stumbling block just like my 180s was. I know that once you get through this speed you are going to run through the others in no time. Keep your head up and your fingers moving!

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely look into that book.
Good luck on beating 140's butt.
