I guess it is a little dark. If I was talented like you, I'd have my shamrocks up. :)
I did cook corned beef and cabbage today, though. Does that count for anything?? HA!
My son Chase just put a bowl of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup under my nose and told me I should get some while it's "soft." Of course the bowl was his.
Funny timing, as I just read your lack-of-ice-cream comment.
He's doing so awesome, though. I'm not complaining. He reported a jury trial one day in the afternoon this past week, and the reporter he covered wanted an ASCII for readback purposes. He didn't bat an eye. I would have totally freaked, I think, if I had to do something like that right out of the chute.
It's so new, though, that he isn't even thinking auto includes yet. He's booked for the next ten days straight (in court), so I'm sure he'll have it figured out before the two weeks are over.
Here's another "problem":
If I get a last-minute call to a courtroom, I just take my machine -- well, when it's not an RT dept. So I'll go over there for five minutes to an hour. When I come back to my office, I hook up my RT, and when I set up my case name and begin my RT file, what I reported on my machine for that timer period just dumps into the RT file. This works as long as, of course, I don't turn my machine off after I'm through reporting.
He thinks Eclipse cannot do that, and I just find it mind boggling that that can't be done. I can always append a new RT file with an old one or a brand new file.
You probably don't have very much experience with this, as with depos I don't think you change your seat and go to another room and report, etc.
What do you think??
I'll post this to the mass if you don't know because he's so adamant that it's not an Eclipse feature that I think he's not going to ask a tech about it.
He's on my old Smartwriter, and I had to go off of it because it dumped so slowly after rehooking into RT. So every time there was a bench or chambers conference, etc., I'd go back and it would read through at a snail's pace.
Today, when we used the Smartwriter, which he is still using, and unhooked and hooked back up, it tran'd in like lightening. I always thought it was the machine, and come to find out it was the software all these years.
It doesn't do it with my Mira. It trans in fast.
I'm thinking he probably should shim the Smartwriter and hang on to it instead of buying any writer out these days.
Hey, I just checked out that thread on Advantage you sent me. The questions were pretty basic. I was pretty sure Eclipse had all the features he was asking about.
Now, figuring out how to implement all of them, that's where I'm going to have a tough time with this old brain.
Clay isn't using any auto-include files. Do you know your entry for those?
Like sworn and recess and datelines, etc. I think Procat's is [f:jobname.trn], but I'd have to check to make sure.
Don't go to any trouble. He can call support. He thinks he should just set them up as briefs???
I know Procat couldn't handle five-line briefs, etc.
The guy from Acculaw called and said he got a used system turned in with a main key and an edit key, so I'm still needing to touch base with him to get it. I've been soo busy.
Friday I reported three separate murder cases -- pretrial motions on one (402s), a Miranda motion on a murder trial trailing behind that one, and a verdict on a murder trial that had gone out on Thursday.
Same dept. juggling three different murder cases. That was a first for me.
Next week I'm reporting an attempted murder trial with four defendants, five attorneys, and three juries. Guess it's extremely difficult because it's two L.A. (female) attorneys and they're getting real catty with the D.A., who talks so fast he doesn't know what he's saying and says the wrong words way too often.
It's going to be a challenge, and I can't wait. Sounds like so much fun!!
LOL, put that pic up last summer, I think. Still looks the same, lol. I have two of the SK books signed by him too! Been a fan since The Stand in 1978. I just got the latte syrups, Torani or somethng?? DH got me a Krups latte maker two birthdays ago. Love it! But have put on a few pounds, lol. Trying the syrups instead of the flavored creamers, lol.
I got a wimpy one on Saturday. So disappointing. I tell her if she's not hurting me I'm not happy, and there she goes doing the Swedish stuff.
First time at my chiro's office, though, it was wimpy. She is a student in training, so guess I should give her a break, but I will not be returning to her soon.
Think I'll schedule one for Saturday now so I don't get the leftovers. :)
I'm off for a swim with my hubby. We need to get in shape. Doc's orders for him from his cardiologist today. Told him I'd join him because I have too many aches and pains from not moving around enough.
Oh, and Clay is using hyperkeys. I have tried them out. I think it wouldn't take me too long to get used to them. I don't want to get you all worked up -- yes, I do plan on using them.
I don't think he has the right box checked in edit is the reason for lack of autospace and cap.
Hey, Jenny... with all these comments about the power of the writer versus the computer... I'm tempted to try to use my desktop monster just to see if it's any better. I would HATE to think that my "suggestion" from the vendor was not a good one and that I'd spent the money (albeit only $600) when I didn't need to.
I'm behind on transcripts, though, and alas according to my boss, those take precedence. Tune in later for more details! ;)
sorry to miss you in LV this year. We'll get around to it eventually! Barb and I are going to try and get tix to Bette... I think that would be GRAND!!
I have a smidge of stacking now that I'm getting used to it. Have still not adjusted anything tho. But I think I will, when I call Jason soon, lol!!! Is my fingers not 'leaving' the keys, so think I want them shorter. At least w/this machine, 'everyone' CAN adjust to what they work good with!!!
Jenny,
did a quick blog entry showing a pic of how I sit w/my Grand.....it rests on my legs. I don't bend it too much, more tilting it in than up or down...

I need another seagull. It flew off (talked its way off) my front page.
So . . . talk to you later!

Yes, we can ask for directions, can't we!!

I'll have to check that link out.

I'll have to check out the 3,000 word thing. I have no idea what you are talking about -- I mean which site it's on -- so I need to go check it out.

I got to tell Monti to check it out.
I had no idea I was the "Comment Wall Wizard."
At least I'm not the "Babbling Blogger." HA!
