I was feeling very defeated recently. Work, school, and life in general, was really making me feel at a lost of what to do next. I thought I had reached the end of my rope when my company furlouged another 350 people. I knew there was no way I could continue with school if my work schedule didn't allow more flexibility. I am sure I won't continue going to my current school next term because it is just too expensive for me right now. Fortunately, I've been given great advice from other reporters, and students regarding an online course which will allow me more flexibility with my job. I feel much more confident that I can complete this course. I am actually excited again about chosing this career. I appreciate all the encouragment and support I was given here the past few weeks.

Jonathan,
I'm glad you're encouraged and will stay with it. I just passed my 60's and one 70. I've been in school since late September. I'm not giving up. I was laid off last May and had been so tired of having a 'job'. I'm not working and school is expensive, but I figured that if I didn't make a change, I'd be drifting from job to job until retirement (I've been laid off 6 times over the years). I need the stability. God will see you through. Pray.
Hi, Jonathan.

I know my response to your blog post is 4 months late, but hopefully there's no time limit with encouraging a fellow court reporting student to never give up! ;)

I'm so glad that you were able to find a lot of great advice through CSR Nation. I love this website and the wonderful people who make it come alive! Monti and Kelli are so awesome for thinking up this idea and making it a reality!

I'm a student at 160 WPM, and it's taking me a lot longer to finish. I went to school very, very part-time for a few years because I couldn't afford to go full-time. I too had to deal with financial/work stuff. But now I am able to go full-time, and it has helped my progression with school SO SO MUCH!!! I guess the lesson here is Yeah, life happens. But whatever happens, we should make the most of it. Look at the bright side. And if we really want to be a CSR one day, we can NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!! We'll make it... whether it be part-time school, full-time school, online school, or on-the-campus school... we'll make it to our finish line IF WE DON'T GIVE UP!!! Keep up the great enthusiasm till you get your CSR license number! And I'll do the same! ;)

BTW, how is online school working for you? Pros and cons?

Hope you're well, Jonathan! Take care!
