Capitalization

Sometimes it seems obvious; other times it's not. Please post cap/no-cap questions here.

If you have a doctor say, "I was a Fellow from 1999-2000, do you cap the Fellow or not?

I wouldn't cap it.

I would not cap "fellow." The only time (and according to Gregg's) I would cap titles is if they were to immediately follow a person's name, i.e., William Jones, Chief of Staff.  Otherwise, "He was the chief of staff."

Although I had a witness send in an errata sheet full his title(s) capped when they did not immediately follow his name.  Pfffft.

do you capitalize "medical board" in this sentence?  "were you a member of the medical board, the California medical board?"  my tendency is to leave it alone, as-is, because "medical board," even though it's referring to the CAlifornia medical board, comes up so many times, and it also comes up generically throughout the transcript.  what are your thoughts?

The actual name is Medical Board of California, so no, I would not cap it; and I wouldn't ever cap it when it's shortened to medical board.
