Good morning. Most of you may not know me, yet most of you probably at least know of me. I'm Pierre, Karl and Ray's oldest dog. The reason I'm starting to write this blog is twofold; first, I was at the vets yesterday for my rabies vaccination and he stated, in so many words, that I was old and that this would probably be my last rabies shot. I mean, hello, I'm blind, but I'm not deaf. What a thing to say. But actually, I've known the end is coming sometime, sooner or later. We all do, don't…

Boy, while I was trying to fix my link on previous post I spotted something in the Dogpile article I didn't pick up on the first time around.....
What Is Dogpile and What Does It Do?
In the late 1900's, Dogpile was one of a handful of new search engines that differed significantly from all of the competitors of the day. Dogpile takes a different approach to finding requested search information.
I don't know about anybody else but that little phrase sure…

Yesterday morning, as I sat at my laptop transcribing monster proceedings from a medical symposium, I got a text message on my cell phone from an unknown.
Texter: Hey Baby!
Me: And u r?
Texter: I don't know. its this random gurl who thinks ur hot!!
Texter: Coco puff!!!
As I pondered who the mystery texter might be, it occured to me that my 14 year-old son used my phone the day before.
Me: You must be one of Corey's friends. You…

I am wondering. I had a depo that was filed in the state of Florida. they do a waive or sign automatically at the end of the depo, no chance to change your mind. you have to decide whether you want to waive or sign. the deponents were from CA and were very confused because they didn't know what to do, and under the pressure of the attys they opted to waive, because that's what the attys told them that 'everyone does normally." In this state that law does not apply, so what do I do? do I follow…

Wow, what a great Eclipse seminar held by Julie Samford this past Saturday and Sunday!!!!
She is an incredible instructor, keeps you cracking up and all coffee'd up too! If she had her drothers she'd liquor you up...but then how would you keep your mind focused on that darn Eclipse??
All kidding aside she is really terrific at what she does and has so many helpful things that I bet you don't know how to do on Eclipse...unless you've been to one of her seminars before!
Cheers, and…

I ran across this a few years ago and thought I'd share. It's kind of interesting to read these factoids. As it pertains to our industry, I like Nos. 4, 8, 11, 12, 17, and 35, though No. 30 sparks a vision that wouldn't seem so bad on this side of pond. [Sorry, Nancy.]

I found this website on another forum: www.echosign.com. I briefly looked at it, but it appears legit. You might want to check it out unless you want to pay top dollar to VeriSign or RealLegal.

Well, I queried on CSR Nation to find a few other mentions of my favorite search engine,
Dogpile, which is (in case you haven't heard of it before) a metasearch engine that searches Google, Yahoo, Ask, etc. and brings back the best results from ALL of these!
And, no, it's not some stinky mess or whatever like I know several people have thought when I mentioned its name..........…

Hello everyone, I've had a few different occasions when I've been asked to mark the transcript at a certain place. Is there a standard format to include a blurb on the actual page and a standard way of including it in the INDEX page? I've had so many different suggestions and was wondering if there's a standard way of doing this.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Hello all:) Just got booked for a 3-day Administrative Hearing here in Upstate, NY. Because I am freelance, I really only do depositions. Can anyone tell me what I can expect going into this? Is it like an actual trial where there is a courtroom and a judge is sitting up at a bench, or is it like an arbitration? Only asking because I see there is an ALJ, and the description I found on line, to me, sounds like a form of an arbitration.
Thanks for any suggestions. I just really like…

Quite honestly, I don't want a ton of pages. My goal is not to write more pages, but to get paid more for the pages I do take.
So when I ask agencies the rate, and they tell me I'll make it up in volume, I'm often of two minds. Do I really want to make it up in volume?
I don't feel like a hamster. Do I look like a hamster? Why would I want to run just as fast to stay in place?
Too many times, I hear it's a great job, you'll get a lot of pages. But what's the…

Just wondering opinions on which is "better." lol. I have Eclipse now, but have to be honest in saying I don't really know how to use a lot of the functions I don't think. I just kind of do my realtime for myself and then basic edit with an ascii after finishing it. What are the pros and cons of each?
THANKS A TON IN ADVANCE!

Now, where was I? Oh, yes. Scopists are your friends.
Okay. So where can I find these scopists? Why you can find them right here on CSRnation under the classifieds.
If you are on Eclipse, you can find them at the Advantage website.
The T3 website has a list of
scopists.
Here's a list of scopists by…

I have CaseCat8. I currently own a Toshiba Satellite Pro (6 years old) w/Windows 2000 XP, Pentium 4 that has served me well. Lately though when I insert a key memory stick, a box pops up saying my computer is too slow to support the stick. I want to stick with Toshiba because I've never had any problems, but now I know whatever I'm going to buy will have the new Windows (what's it called?) and not XP, so does anybody have any advice for what to buy or what to steer clear of? I'm planning on…

I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all those who expressed heart-felt concern over the tragedy that struck my country. There's no way to describe the way the storm wreaked havoc on the lives of my countrymen. It really warms my heart to know that there are people, even oceans away, who are there to lend their support in times of crisis. I really feel that CSRNation is a community where everyone feels at home. Even though I've been busy recently, I feel that I've never been away.…

I successfully did it last week, but now I can't find my note file to transcribe & edit. I have CaseCat8. I connected my Stentura 8000 to my laptop using my USB cable to COM1 port. I clicked Read Notes. Great, okay, I see the window "Looking for writer"; found it, there is my file. Great. I click okay and I think it asked me to Append, Overwrite...and I chose Append. Don't know why, but I did. Whoosh, it's gone. Now when I chose to Translate & Edit, I can't find my file. I am sick…

Philippines has been devastated by Typhoon Ondoy, much like New Orleans was devastated by Katrina. Manila and the surrounding areas hasn't been hit this hard in over 40 years. Most of the city, consisting of 15- to 18 million people is under water.
