Glen, Thanks so much for copying and pasting all that student info over on depoman! I was meaning to study all that when I stopped working so hard on the LightSpeed. And then it was gone. You rescued it !
Yeah, it's me. Sorry I didn't get back with you sooner, but I came on board just to check the site out and just haven't had time to check in. The last thing I need is one more site to distract me from my work!
Glen, Thanks so much for attaching that link to Stenotypy on depoman. I lost patience trying to find it yesterday and gave up! What, a court reporter giving up??? Hey, it happens!
I made up a flyer as an invitation to my 30th birthday party (Yes, damn it, it was years ago).
The header read: "Naked Vaseline Twister and Other Games--Just kidding, but now that I have your attention, please join us..."
I think that will be the title to the book I write one day:)
Hi, Glen! I already feel like I know you - I absolutely LOVE your site and, thank you very much -- I wouldn't have known to have purchased the "correct" laptop without your article. You are a real gift to the profession!
That's the guy in those "Pimp My Auto" Volkswagen commercials. A couple years back, I found someone with one of those sparkly paint jobs on their steno machines, and thought that putting Mr. Pimp My Auto in front of it would be humorous!
YAY! It's working! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. One quick call to Stenograph and Stenovations and I'm on my way! It turns out I had a bad adapter. Now I just need to read the manual and figure out exactly how everything works. Thanks again.
Thanks, gdw. I think I'm at least on the right track now. Those darn drivers get me every time. I called Stenograph and they helped me out. Thanks again!
Ya know, if someone would just write this crap for a Mac, I wouldn't be having all these problems. I've never been so frustrated as I have been since having to use this stupid PC (piece of crap). And please, if you ever get DC to run on your Mac without Windows, may I please be the first to know? I WANT MY MAC!!!!!
Thanks for getting back to me. First off, my writer isn't a USB. It's a 200 SRT with a serial adapter to what I think is an ethernet cord. When I go to device manager, I can't figure out which COM port it's supposed to be. I show COM1 and COM64 and then LPT1. But when I go to select one of those in the steno source window, it gives me an option from COM1 to COM 30. None of them work. That's only the first problem.
Problem 2: When I ordered digitalCAT, they guy said they would provide the theory dictionary with the software, but they didn't. I was using an earlier version of CaseCAT (like, 4 years ago) and can't find my original install disk to get the dictionary from. Arrrrrghhh! I'm sure I can call digitalCAT and get them to send me a dictionary (or at least I think I can) but that still doesn't solve my problem of not recognizing the writer.
I'm not sure what kind of serial adapter it is. All it has on it is the Stenograph logo. I saw in another thread where you said not to use the Keyspan serial adapter, but how do I know if that's what I have.

Yeah, it's a process!

Please tell me where to start!
