Hi Kim, sorry i haven't been around for a while. I'm on Facebook a lot but I'm back now. I'm glad you like school. eithe you love it or you hate it. I also see you are a camper. We go once a year although I wish it was more. took my stentura this year, but got rained on so I only worked on it for a couple of hours one day. too hot in the tent for writing.
talk to you soon.
Yes. I am an online student. I attend the College of Court Reporting. It's located in Hobart, Indiana. I live in Dayton, Ohio. I have been a student there since February of 2008. I am currently working on my 160's. I love it!! It's challenging, but I really love the climb. Where do you live?
Hi, Kim! I'm sorry I'm so late accepting your friend request and Thank You! You posted during the time I was moving and I just didn't see it until this morning! What school are you going to and how are you doing? I'm at CCR and the new semester starts next week - I'm enjoying my week off (which means I'm only practicing 2 hours a day!) Holler back when you get a chance!
Hi! Thanks for requesting ;-)
I've been in school for 3 years!! eeeks! It's taking me forever just because I've had a lot of "life" get in the way...
I'm in 160's now, have been for 8 months and haven't tested lately because for the last 7 months I've been dealing with carpal tunnel. I had surgery in March and I'm now back writing in class all day... but I'm FEELING it! Hopefully I'll get back on top of it soon! I want to done with school!
How about you?
Hi Kim from Diane Hickman, your mentor. I met you at the CSR Nation website. Stay focused with your practicing. You are an inspiration to me. Thanks for inviting me to be your Facebook friend.
I started school in September '07, so I'm just about at the 2 year mark. We studied theory until the end of May '08, when we started speedbuilding. I am getting close to being done and I'm so excited! I can feel it right at my fingertips!
I'm in a part-time program where we meet twice a week for three hours at a time, so most of the practicing is done at home. We have all progressed at very different rates - out of the five of us, one went full-time for 3 years before switching to our program and she is around 160/180, one has been going part-time for close to 5 years and is going for her 160s, one started six months before me and is working on 120/140, and the other started with me and is working on his 160s. Just from the five of us, you can see that the rate you'll progress is very individual. Work hard and you'll get there! Let me know how it goes when you start school!
Hey Kim, I'm so glad you're excited to start! I learned about CR about six months before I was able to start school and it felt like an eternity! Are you going to be in school part-time or full-time? Will you be working? I'm right in the middle of passing my 200s - I have 2 Jury Charges that I still need, and I am working on 225 Q and A. It is a lot of hard work, but it will be worth it in the end! What school will you be going to?
WELCOME!!! And CONGRATULATIONS on starting on the very awesome, challenging, rewarding, unforgettable, unique, amazing path to a court reporting career! I'm traveling the same road myself! ;) I go to Tri-Community in Covina and am currently at 160.
I'm so glad you're an active member of CSR Nation because (I won't lie to you) the court reporting program is HARD! And sometimes you'll feel like quitting altogether. But do NOT do it! We WILL become licensed CSRs IF we do NOT give up! Another source (hopefully) of inspiration besides CSR Nation is my blog -- www.stenonerd.blogspot.com. Please check it out from time to time. In there I detail my progress with school and other things court reporting students can surely relate to!
I love your quote: "I am very happy to finally know what I want to be." Isn't that a GREAT PLACE TO BE?!?! I'm finally there myself... the SWEET SPOT... and, again, I sincerely congratulate you, Kim, for starting on this new adventure to one day becoming a CSR! It'll be fun and well worth it! :D
