Awww... thank you so much for the kind words about my blog, Steno Nerd. I'm glad you found the 1,000 Most Frequently Used Words PDF useful. It's not mine, though... just found it and shared it! :)
Suzanne, Have you started using the 4th Tutor yet? Do you have anyone else at school you can talk to about Eclipse? Have you created an ini so you can realtime in it yet? I can send you my ini and you could then import it. This week is super busy for me, but let me know. I'll be around in the evenings.
I see you've made the extremely common mistake of posting on your page in the comment section below. Did you know you can copy and paste it somewhere else? Like in a blog. Here's a safe way to do it. Open CSRn in another tab so you have two of them. Get in the new one and start a blog. Copy from the old one and paste in the new. Then click on the little square on the upper right to delete your comment. If you write a blog, I believe it will show up on The Nation page where a lot of people go to after they visit their own page. I do!
So encouraging to hear of your awesome progress with school. I believe you can finish by next year if you want! That's the goal! We CAN do it! :)
I know how frustrating it can be to be stuck in speeds for months and months. I was stuck forever at 120 because before I only went to school very, very part-time and never practiced outside school since I was putting work before school at that time. Bad choice! Oh well. Can't change the past. I do regret that I didn't get serious about school earlier on, but, again, we can't change yesterday... but it just makes me MORE MOTIVATED than ever to finish ASAP and to finish WELL!
Thanks in advance for checking out my blog, Steno Nerd! I really love maintaining it. It's my creative release (I wish I could do more photography, but I don't have the time to go out and be away from my steno machine! Hehehe!), and I love connecting with fellow court reporting students. I also hope to be a great encouragement to fellow students because I know we ALL NEED IT! :)
Suzanne, Because I am nosy and visit this site while having my morning coffee, I understand you are on Eclipse. Have you read any of the posts in the Total Eclipse group here??? There's some really good info. Did you know there's a built-in tutor program called Fourth Tutor??? It's the easiest - and cheapest - way to learn the neato features of Eclipse.
Check it out and let me know how you do! My sister and brother are reporters too. We all know how tough it is to get through school. Good luck!
I'm a court reporting student, too! How's school going? I go to Tri-Community, and I'm at 160 wpm... trying to finish as soon as I can! Aren't we all? Hehehe.
Please check out my blog -- stenonerd.blogspot.com -- where I chronicle my court reporting journey and where I hope to be a fun, informative, consistent resource for fellow court reporters, both students and professionals. Thanks in advance! :)
I hope you have a great year ahead of you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D
I know what you mean, Suzanne, about the Eclipse software. There is SO MUCH available that it's hard to figure which way to go. But, sorry, I'm a newbie, too, on the software and it will be a long time before I can give anyone advice on it! I'm just trying to get my speed up enough so that I can make a decent living and THEN I'll be checking out "all" it has to offer. Basically, for me in scoping though, I've found I need to learn enough to start working and add on features and speed as I go. I imagine it will be the same for you too. So, I think we're about in the same boat there, i.e. patience and perseverance are key! I don't know about you, but I am not patient and that is a tall order for me but I haven't found any way around it just yet!
