Okay, I feel odd writing this but I looked around and never found the answer so I'm hoping for some feedback.
I was doing a proof and a doctor answered
low-averagish intellect before the accident. Wouldn't that be low-average-ish before the accident; or low average-ish before the accident? I was wondering why it was written as such, I know "ish" is a common term in pop culture lingo but I was a bit thrown off that a doctor used it in that manner. I marked it for the reporter…

I quit smoking cigarettes February 16, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. Since that time, I have gained a lot of weight in less than two years. To add insult to injury, I have been busier than I have ever been in my job, especially since the Obama administration got in, resulting in many hours being sedentary.
I knew I was in trouble, though, this past week when my feet got so swollen from sitting in one position for so many hours. I could hardly walk.
Years ago, when I was younger, I…

I only have a couple of minutes because I've been working feverishly all day on editing my first transcript and I really have to get back to it, but I wanted to tell everybody that I did it! I went on my first job, it was a monster, and I DID IT! I'm so happy! I want to…

My last day at my current job is today. It is a little scary -- I have been here for almost 3.5 years and am familiar with my surroundings here. They have been so supportive of me throughout my schooling and were incredibly accommodating when I did my internship. I have been lucky to work here with the people I have been associated with.
However, I am SO EXCITED to dive into this crazy world of being a working court reporter! I have a fabulous agency that I interned with that is…

I saw this incredible news story and couldn't resist passing it along here. A Philadelphia 8-year-old is being called a hero after he helped his pregnant mother, who lost the ability to see while driving, steer her car through a mile of traffic intersections until he could find a safe place for her to stop. I imagine she felt a lot like the blind man in the picture.

I have had a California attorney say on the record, "I want that marked." I would appreciate input from any California reporters. Do you just indicate it on your index page? It wasn't a question. It was actually a little dust-up between the attorneys. Please give me your advice.
Thanks,
Janiece

I received an e-mail from Blog Catalog today informing me of the upcoming International Literacy Day on September 8th and giving me the opportunity to unite with other bloggers to support this important day.
I wanted to pass this information along as I have personally worked with someone who was held back on his job and providing for his family due to his inability to read the necessary paperwork and forms required for a promotion. Plus, I thought that we, as wordsmiths, particularly…

Hello,
My name is Sherrelle Johnson and I'm a newbie to scoping. I am currently enrolled in 2 scopist trainings; 1) is an online program -Scoping Made Affordable 2) Cerritos Community College. The second one is a traditional Court reporting school that offers scopist training as well as a certificate upon completion. I decided to enroll in both institutions because I wanted to make sure I was getting as much info and knowledge as possible. So that when I complete the training, I would be a…

I started court reporting school exactly 1 year ago and I only have one year left. I use to be able to write at 120 words per min easily and now I can barely write 100 without struggling. I have a part time job as a teller and they are really pushing me to work a lot more so I think thats really interfering with my practice. Also my boyfriend just started going to college again so I'm trying to get use to the swing of things. Is there any advice that I can get as to what I can do to get myself…

Hey everyone,
Hopefully this is a really easy question. I had this term come up in a workers' comp depo. The doctor was a part of a panel -- sounds like cue ami. I can't seem to find this term anywhere. Sad things is, I've had this term come up before and had an exhibit for the spelling but I don't seem to be able to recall. Can anyone help me out?
