I have been working from my living room and my couch for quite some time now because we have beenrevamping our house completely. Finally, yesterday, I went and bought a new office chair and all that fun stuff. My husband doesn't think I'll use it all though. lol.

So this brings me to my question that I was just wondering where a lot of reporters work when they're not in a depo? Do you work on the couch, at your kitchen table, or in a home office?

I am just hoping I will get more done now that I have a designated place to just do work. We'll see;)

Since Jane brought up the pain issue, I thought I'd drop in and mention that since I switched to a laptop for editing I am without pain. I used to suffer so sitting at a desktop. No matter how hard I tried to not slouch, it happened. My shoulders, upper back, and wrists were in constant pain. If I'd curl my wrists whtile sleeping, my hands would feel as though they'd gone to sleep. I'd wear Ace wrist supports at night and SmartGloves during the working hours. I switched to the laptop and gradually the symptoms went away. When I moved my "office" back to the office, I just continued using the laptop.

I am so enlightened! I assumed I was the only one who didn't use the home office I set up. I used to use my desk faithfully but then suffered from coccydynia and began using the couch or bed because it's more comfortable. My family might see me kneeling on the floor using my couch as a desk or stretched out on my stomach trying to edit when it's really painful. I've hired a scopist and it's WONDERFUL! She is so good that all I'm doing anymore is proofing and making what few changes I need to, so that's cut down my editing time a great deal and I'm actually making more money too!

I was sick of working at home because I would never get anything done. With kids, dinner to make, laundry to do, etc, I would keep putting off turning my laptop on! So I bought an annual parking pass for the beach and that is my office! I back into a space, open the back door to my Yukon XL and voila, my office! I put pillows back there, there's a drink holder, outlets...I'm set!! And you can't beat the view.

I'm on the couch, recliner end! Took over that corner, lol. I can 'see' my office from here. I refuse to sit in that chair for 8-10hrs or more when editing!!! I have my laptop on a TV tray table, squeezed between the couch arm and the wall. I have extension cords to handle my hubs and cooling tray and backup external (2) harddrives. JUST got a print server and now have my priner wired thru the wireless router! :) I can print from my couch now, lol.

If a jury trial, I take the laptop so I can edit, if free time. Otherwise, I just use my tablet w/my Gemini Grand.

My fiance and I bought all new furniture for my office, and yet I find myself on our couch (which just so happens to be the most comfortable couch in the world.) Plus he laughs at me because I can't seem to edit without some type of loud noise going on in the background.

I made my office sound like a real office, didn't I? LOL It's half my bedroom. So no matter where I work, I don't really escape it.

I'm a scopist. I have an office so I basically force myself to use it. I used to do the couch thing, but felt rather guilty wasting an entire room. A great benefit of switching is that my living room is now much more tidy. When I'm done working, I can leave this room and shut the door on work.
