I'm already addicted, and yes, I know what you mean on the Ctrl/1 thing - yea! Thanks for dropping a note my way - and WOW, you are from one of my favorite areas in the world! Hope to meet you sometime ... I'll certainly see you again online.

comma to a period is the same in hypers and std -- it's only in type mode when in hypers that it isn't automatic. Cursor movement is the thing to bring people around. Adding a Ctrl or Alt button or not to global isn't worth relearning. In fact, most often, I use Ctrl-G if I want to global more than one word/stroke. It's not that big a time saver to learn 7 8 9. But if you don't have to move from home row to move . . . that's HUGE!!

Don't tweak too much. Don't hurt yourself. But have fun with the Grand!

Wynne doesnt use hypers and is adamantly against the idea. Mary doesn't use hypers and isn't interested. Lisa. None of the people in town who have gone to those couple seminars I went to last year use them. The trainer brushed me aside when I was describing hyperkey commands for some of what she was teaching.

There are a lot still out there not using them. If it weren't for this keyboard that is just a PITA, I probably wouldn't have bothered learning them either.

Oh, please do. I don't really understand what the problem was, so better to come from you.

That shamrock is the picture for MTR for the season too. Glad you like it. :)

So what's the status on the LS??

You definitely win the patience award. Would you mind if I borrowed just a little of that??

Acculaw will help me get set up AND Eclipse will take over whenever I need them. Cool, huh!

I know it works because I just went through it with Clay. I was a bit more skeptical last time.

I saw my senior's translation screen today using the -- whatever one you can't wait for me to see. Where it guesses and puts it in a different color.

Only one time she had something really strange come out for four perfect strokes. That worried me, but she absolutely loves it.

They faxed me the forms to fill out today to my home. As soon as my check gets there -- I think Florida -- they'll be sending it out to me. YIPPEE!!

No, Jenny, the deal through Acculaw comes with a full year's support through Eclipse. It is exactly like purchasing directly through them. Clay has full support for a year and then after that keeps his support plan up with Eclipse directly.

I'm telling you, it's the only way to go. I need to purchase it now, though, before too many people read about it and they don't have one available. They can only sell the ones they have coming through. They make the deal with Eclipse, buying the transfer fees, so there are no additional costs.

That's what I was saying about the "deal of a lifetime." It's the deal of a lifetime for him because you'd still have to make the license agreement with Eclipse, and who knows how much that would cost.

I'll call right now and tell them the check's in the mail.

What does "has he tried it at zero" mean?

On-the-fly realtime macros??? I'm so dying for them. Yes, I have no problem hitting a stroke to enable it.

He did start with Mark Kislingbury's 240,000 word dictionary and he has had to do a lot of tweaking as far as software specific details because Mark is on DigitalCat. I don't think he's ever tried the Translation Magic. I know he tried the one where the suggested outlines pop up -- what's that called -- and he didn't care for it.

I want to try them all, though, as I've felt crippled for a long time now.

I think I need a training class or two, don't you??

His P-P for period comes up great on RT. It's in edit when it doesn't auto space the two, so that will help me direct him to the right spot. He might have already fixed it since last weekend.

So . . . I'm calling Acculaw and am sending off the check. Clay isn't using the translation magic, etc., so you know I'm going to be driving you and Brenda nuts with all the how-tos.

Could you please just tell me one more time that this old dog really can learn a new trick??

After 22 years on Procat, it's quite an endeavor for me to make the switch, but FINALLY I'm doing it. Thank you for all the encouragement.

I'll have to look Jason up. A dude who wants to write short -- my FAVE!

Just wanted to say hi. I've been missing you and saw your pic on Lisa's page.

So I helped Clay a little this weekend on a job, and he doesn't have it set where when you put in a period it automatically spaces two spaces. It drove me nuts.

I know he can fix that somewhere. Hopefully he asks Eclipse before the next time I help him out.

I called Acculaw yesterday. Still can get a full setup for $3100 out the door. I don't know what Breck was posting about the "deal of a lifetime." Sounded like it was the deal of a lifetime for him.

He seems like a really nice guy, but I really think Acculaw is the place to go to purchase Eclipse.

So my real question is:

Does Eclipse have the feature where it suggests what's already in your dictionary??

Procat did get that feature this past year, and I'm refusing to buy Eclipse until I know they have it for sure. Do you know??

I know you talked about the translation magic being phenomenal, but I really need to know if they have that other feature also. There are so many times when I know I have something awesome in my dictionary and I can't remember the dang outline. Old age, I guess.

Hope you are having a great week!!

The work gates for Clay finally opened up this week. He's so happy right now, which was great timing because he was starting to get really bummed out.

Gotta go do the 'cuzzi.

Can't live without hypers. (Lisa, are you reading this?) I held out until December of '07, very near the end, close enough to pretend it was my New Year's resolution.

Fast typing has nothing to do with it. It's reaching for function keys, especially the arrow keys. Moving the cursor around from home row is priceless! Best thing evah! The only thing that threw me was remembering to hit the N to type in something. I still forget sometimes, but it's much more automatic now. I even type N on things that are already type mode, it comes so naturally now.

Lisa, (I know you'll peek), it isn't G instead of Ctrl-G that makes this golden -- big deal, right? It's JKLI for left, down, right up; it's C for next conflict; ] for end of line, [ for home. Far less hand movement is far better for our hands! :)

Yeah, I worked yesterday, today (a short dr. dep), and have a work comp depo tomorrow. It seems to be picking up. This week I've actually had to turn down work b/c for the first time in a long time I got mutliple calls on two of the same days. You know, two of the calls I had to turn down were from reporters I hadn't heard from in a while and they both do work comp. So maybe that arena is picking up again. This week is the first work comp depo I've done in probably two years. So maybe it's getting busier :))

Hi Jenny,
I heard a lot of negative feedback about the LS. I happen to get a great deal on the Elan Mira A3. Someone from my school contacted me about a woman who was selling the machine, plus Case 8.01 with the edit key for...get ready...$2,500! I could not pass that up. I did sell the software because I am on Eclipse, and did not want to change.
Who makes the Gemini Grand? Is it a paperless writer? I love my paperless writer!

Susan

Hey, jenny ~ just checking in and making sure you're not floating away down there :)) Today's been crazy ~ i dont' think it's stopped for more than 10 minutes! Good think I like the rain.
How's the Grand treating you? Well, I hope. The LS is still hanging in there for me.

Thank you Jenny,
What a relief! I just received my professional version of Eclipse, and that would be a huge help. I just did my first job last Tuesday, an EBT. I was never so nervous in my life. I went to go onto Eclipse, it said "access code denied"...OMG!! I handled it well. I guess all court reporters will never forget their first job.
Congratulations on passing your CRR!!
Thanks again,
Susan
