I use Whalemail for the audio files. Very simple.

For sharing of audio files trying using a service like whale mail or swap drive to up load audio files to and for the scopist to download them. That makes the process so much easier.

I have Case and just did an Eclipse file. It was my first time. The only issue we had was conflicts didn't show in my software. But the reporter called Eclipse support and they told her something to do to make it show in a different color for me in Case and that fixed it! It was over 300 pages, was an expidite and was on tapes! The reporter was very happy with my work and is sending me more files on a regular basis. She just added audiosync and we've got it worked out to send that separate. SO glad not to have to use tapes again, that sucked.

Here's just a few answers to random comments:

1.) Case to Eclipse conversion is so much more work and mess than it is worth it. I would not even attempt. I'm not sure about audiosync, but formatting and other issues like that are a nightmare.

2.) EZ Keys are VERY old and outdated. They are NOT supported, nor do they work, on Vista AT ALL. Sorry! You'll need to learn to use macros instead.

3.) Although you've probably found the answer, word index is also known as concordance index. You'll create one, and then be able to print it.

Did I miss anything other than the untrans question? LOL

Hi!
This is probably a silly question and one I should know, but how difficult is for a scopist to scope for an Eclipse reporter on CaseCatalyst? I know there may be a few formatting issues, but what about audio? Does Eclipse have the same type of thing as audiosync on Case CAT? and if so, would the audio and text on the Eclipse file that is brought into CaseCAT work correctly?? I don't mean using MP3's, I mean would it stay linked together when the file is put into CaseCAT for editing?? Just curious.
Thanks, Joan

Hello CaseCat users. Just joined this group and am really enjoying the info. I have an EZ Speaker question that was not able to be solved by tech support. Maybe some of you have a work-around. The problem come when I've defined an EZ Speaker using the Q. and A. symbols at the same time -- or the "THE COURT," sometimes I'll not catch every single letter. For example, I left out the initial W. It then came up as an untran. CaseCat stated "The software looks for every possible misstroke" -- as I have that option checked. Well, it missed this one! Their solution was to job define it. Yes, but there are others that come up too. On another stroke left out the final G -- UNTRAN! I really expect the software to do all the hard work for me on these types of issues. I asked if CaseCat could look at the programming and modify it but was told "It's looking for all the possible misstrokes." Has anyone else run across this problem? Any ideas?

Hi, I just joined. I have been a reporter for over 20 years, the past 13 as an official in the Wisconsin state court system and I worked as a freelance reporter before that in Milwaukee. I began my career using BaronData as my computer system, which was later purchased by Stenograph. I am now on Case CATalyst 9.
