I have a Stenocast Red system but do not have the drivers. Can anyone recommend a site where I can download a safe driver for this product? Thanks,Dennis ZambataroContinue

I have always used cables for realtime. I have two loaner computers that I always seem to be using and haven't hooked up to an attorney's computer in I can't remember how long. I use CaseView and…Continue

Anyone heard this? I'm trying to find a moment to call someone at LiveNote and see if this is true. That would be so great, if it's possible.Continue

Laura:
Stenocast said the version of the receiver was not the issue. But they never mentioned the USB root hub power thing, and I didn't know about that until you mentioned it. I will have to check that out!
Sam, I never noticed those little tags on the receivers. Mine are all version 7. Maybe that's why I'm not having the same problems you are. If you "upgrade" one of your blue dongles to v7 and use that for your next RT job, you'd know right away if the older dongles are the problem if you stay connected through the entire job with the newer one. I didn't reread through all the postings here to see if you mentioned it, but you do have your USB root hubs on all computers set to never shut down to save power, right?
Jenny, like you, I do a LOT of editing from my writer as I go along, so I'd rather the attorneys view Bridge if I have anything to say about it. If LN is running simultaneously, they can alt tab over to it at the end and save that file or export a PTF file from Bridge to use with LN. Most of the attorneys I provide RT to who ask for LN want to give Bridge a try when I tell them corrections I make will come through on their screens immediately. When I tell them they can put the Bridge program on all their firm computers for free with no subscription fee involved, oh, how their eyes light up, LOL.

I would have never thought of this, and now I will try it! I do a lot of RT macros and editing on the job in Eclipse with the RED. I have two red and two blue receivers. I haven't had a problem yet. So glad you created this group, Sam!
The receivers have a tag that says what versions they are.
More than 50% of the attorneys/law firms I work with have LN and want to use only that because it ties in with some other stuff, and regardless of me telling them I can give them an ASCII they can import to their other stuff, they have LN and want to continue using it. I use Bridge for the computers I provide and those attorneys aren't familiar with LN, so don't really seem to care. I do very little editing during my jobs, so I'm not worried about what's coming out on their screen. Plus they all get a "cleaned up" ASCII when the day is done.
I have gone to the Device Manager and looked at the advanced settings, but it doesn't mean anything to me and I'm leary about messing with something I know nothing.
I haven't used USB to serial adaptors since 2006! That's why I went wireless - so I didn't have to use them!
The Stenocast people told me that running both 5 & 6 at the same time is no problem. They actually use the same driver.
How can you tell what version your receivers are? My receipt just says "USB Blue EZ Receiver" and "USB RED EZ Receiver," no version numbers. I prefer using Bridge since all my corrections refresh, and I do a LOT of editing from my writer as I go along. I plug both a red and blue receiver into the computer if the attorney has requested LN, run both programs, and let the attorney chose which they'd rather view. Nine times out of ten, they pick Bridge.
Anyway, have you tried going into Device Manager, right click on the Stenocast port, Properties, and checked Advanced Settings? I don't know if there's anything there you could try changing. My blue receive and transmit bytes are at 4096 and Serial Enumerator is checked. The driver version I have is 2.4.16.0.
Just a thought: Have you used USB/serial adapters with the computers having issues? You might try plugging the adapter in and then REMOVING it from the Device Manager.
Also, have the Stenocast people given any indication there might be a problem sending out to the different versions, 5 and 6, receivers at the same time? They might not be compatible to use at the same time if they're doing some sort of "handshaking" with the transmitter. Just grasping at straws here.
Lori: Sorry I didn't get your message until today. Don't know what happened. Anyway, answers:
1) I'm on Eclipse (latest version before 5 when this happened)
2) It was happening on an Acer laptop (Win 7) and I have a Toshiba Netbook as my CAT laptop (Win 7)
3) talked to Stenocast folks and once they confirmed it wasn't their receiver, I was told they could no longer help me because their expertise was only with troubleshooting their equipment
4) Started with Stenocast about 1-1/2 years before they came out with the Red Box, and always ran it on XP for both receiving and sending.
They will replace Ver 5 receivers for red recievers for free, but if you want the "blue" (non-red) receiver higher version, there's a $100 receiver upgrade charge, I believe. I checked it out about a month ago when I was trying to troubleshoot my issue. I want to keep my blue recievers since I do more LiveNote hookups than Bridge.
