So I'm going to be completely honest that the last book I read was Bridget Jones's Baby. It's a hilarious account of a woman in her late thirties that gets pregnant but doesn't know who the dad is. I love reading books like this; I find that I watch less T.V. when I can read something entertaining, but I still feel okay with myself because reading takes brain power, no matter what the content is.

Has anyone here been watching Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale or read the book? I'm really enjoying the show, and I just picked up a copy of the book -- I somehow got through all of school without having to read it -- and hope to be able to dive in sometime this week.

I am a big Stephen King fan. I have been since I was a teenager. In response to Mary Ann's question, I have read the entire Dark Tower series several times. I am in the middle of it now (although I am taking a break to read his Bill Hodges trilogy at the moment). I recently finished Wizard and Glass. Mary Ann, it's been a few months since your original post. What do you think of the series so far? Also, since I was hoping to have a conversation, should I have posted this as a discussion? (I am new on CSRNation.) Thank you!

I've been off work for a year. I've had plenty of time to read. A tale of two cities. Great expectations. I think Dickens is amazing. I read all the outlander books. Those are my absolute favorite books ever. I couldn't put them down. I am now reading the Lord John Grey series. It's a spinoff of outlander. I read others, but can't remember them all.

I'm reading The Solomon Curse by Clive Cussler.  I just started this book but recently finished Piranha by Clive Cussler.  I love adventure books.

I'm currently reading the Chronicles of Narnia series! I just started "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" and it's great so far. The first book is my favorite so far.

I've been too busy the entire year to read much, but as soon as I free up, I'm coming here to read these posts.  Keep 'em coming!

I'm currently midway through the nine-book series by Lindsay Buroker's "Emporer's Edge" series. I love science fiction/fantasy of the "epic tale in a new world" ilk.

I just finished reading "Middlesex" by Jeffrey Eugenides. It took me a while to get into it, but I did enjoy it. It's almost like two stories in one. The first half is about how the narrator's grandparents immigrated to Detroit from Greece and how it shaped the family. The second half is more the narrator's own story, which I enjoyed more. My favorite genres are historical fiction and coming of age stories, and this book is a blend of the two. The narrative style is pretty flowery. I tend to prefer a simpler style, but I still enjoyed the book overall. It's the first fiction book I've read in a long while as I've been reading so much for work!

I'm reading "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah. It's a historical fiction piece that takes place during WWII. It follows the story of two sisters who face different hardships to survive the horrors of the war. One helps British and American soldiers escape the Nazis by trekking over the Pyrenees. The other sister is forced to have German soldiers billet at her home with her and her small children. The book starts out a little slow but picks up considerably after the first 100 pages or so. Excellent read for anyone who likes historical fiction!
