Yeah, Depoman just held a seminar at the DRA and touted the Acer. They do have battery life issues. I'll check it out. Thanks for the link!
Gotta scoot.
Signing off!

Ctrl 1....what?????? Not familiar with it. I'm so bad with the whole macros thing, as you know! And literally I just learned this past weekend that alt+tab switches my windows. Wow. Where have I been.

Okay, and so yesterday I went to Best Buy to check out the netbooks. And I'm thinking of gettting the MSI Wind. 1gb RAM; Intel Atom processor, 1.6ghz processro speed. $319. I basically wanna use it just for Bridge and surfing the net (maybe). Waddya think? Where did you get your Acer?

Hey, Jenny,
So I just got back from the DDRA convention, and yes, they did offer one month support with my purchase. Now, I don't know if that's a convetion special or what. I'm not a techie, but I didn't find it hard at all to plug in the transponder then plug in one receiver on my second laptop which has Bridge loaded on. For me what took the longest was getting the settings just right. Both computers need to be set to CaseView. And for me the baud rate is set to 2400. And of couse check your com port settings. Transmits fine.
However, then I got an error message, "an unnamed file contains an incorrect path." So the Eclipse tech guy told me to download the latest version of Bridge, and hopefully that will solve my problem.

I'll keep you posted, once I actually do a realtime job for real, see how it goes.

Hi Jenny ~ It was really fun!! It's so rare that we can hang out with other court reporters. The seminars were great. There was a really good keynote speaker and lunch on Saturday, and, of course, there was plenty of socializing!!
I did sit down at the Grand ~ very interesting. I'm sure I could probably get used to it. But I really like the touch of the Stylus. If I didn't have the LS, I would go with the Stylus. There were a lot of good vendors there ~ I could shop and spend a fortune, but I didn't do too bad or go too crazy!!!
I hope you had a nice weekend. How was the rain for you yesterday? Hopefully, better since it was a warmer storm.
I hope it's picking up for you ~ it's seems a little hot and cold. last week nothing for me and then 2 days this week (but both are supposed to be all-dayer's ~ keeping my fingers crossed!!)

I actually sold it to another reporter becuase I just don't have time to sit down and get it all figured out. So I sold it to her. It was so nice though...but I didn't want to keep holding onto to it for any longer becuase I just wasn't able to get to it.

Hope you like yours

Good, good luck!! Thank you for all your help on the LS ~ even your continuing to offer when you're not even on it!!
Great picture of the hail up there ~ it looks like snow!! Are you guys finally drying out, warming up, and getting back to normal today? We survived pretty well ~ a couple leaky skylights that we now have to deal with ~ sigh! But our power did stay on, thank goodness.
I'm going down to the DRA convention tomorrow. I'm going to look for the Grand so I can see it in person!! But for now, I'm sticking w/ the LS!

Hi Jenny!! how are you holding up over there in Boulder Creek with all this rain? Just was thinking of you today and the Grand ~ how's it coming?? Have you taken any jobs on it? Have you decided whether to go w/ it or to come back to the LS? I'm anxious to work again b/c my jobs were so good last week on the LS (nothing scheduled this week)
I hope you had a nice long weekend!!

No, Jenny, I don't get over there, so THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting Allen's response. I'm so glad he made it to one of MK's seminars.

I should go to his CSRnation page and ask him to copy it over here on the main page. When such an awesome writer talks, such as Allen, one with as much experience as pretty much anyone in our profession these days, I personally think the whole CR world should listen.

So many reporters on this site don't think of their longevity in the profession. So many reporters are working way too hard, writing way too long, and then convincing others to do the same -- or at least encouraging them to keep on the same track.

Anyway, I'm preaching to the choir again -- or is it the choir preaching to the preacher.

Thanks again, Jenny. That made my day.

Hello jenny,

so when you go to the group, do you see "follow" or "stop following" .. this can be found on top of the member section of the group.. please see image I attached 2 comments down.

Hope I made sense.. sorry, i know that the site is confusing because of the sea of features provided.
thanks

Hello Jenny,
You should see "stop following", if you are seeing "follow" then click it again.
If it already is "stop following" then we have a different problem.
Please double check and let me know.
thanks

So far the LiveNote Streaming wasn't so bad -- logged on to the wireless Internet signal at the firm, plugged in my password provided by LN, the atty did the same -- voila! Realtime is in view! This particular time, the atty had his client logged in from New York, and the client would send Instant Messages to the atty as he'd see things come up that he wanted to draw attention to for the atty. (Contradict what the witness was saying, etc.) I haven't done the video stream yet. HA!

No, I don't *think* I'm going to LV this year either. I was thinking about it, since my great niece will celebrate her 1-yr birthday in May and she lives in Vegas. But I'll have to see how things go in May. Seems like there's just SOMETHING coming up every month either in travel or in expense! I still need to register (and practice for) the CRR (in all of my spare time)! haha

I took a macro shot of a flower -- I'll post that after Valentine's day. I think you'll enjoy it. (And it's sugar-free!!!!)

Hello! Great to hear from you! Yes, we are getting some rain, but most if it's gone now, at least until Monday (so the weather reports indicate). My hubby's favorite line, "I want a job where I can be 75% wrong all the time," speaking of the weatherman! I haven't done a THING with the X7 yet. Still in the box (big surprise, huh?). I've actually been getting more internet streaming jobs/requests lately. I have an acquaintance at a local law firm who works in the IT department. He said I could bring the X7 and try it out and run some tests. He became very panicked when I told him that "soon I'd be rid of all these cables and simply using bluetooth." HA!
I didn't realize you were on the "no-sugar" thing! I took this photo with my new macro lens, trying to capture the details of the candy. Then I found a cool article about these cute little confectionaries, so I was going to add the post/link on my page to go along with the photo.

Are you going to the ESL seminars in May?

I use mine more tilted 'in'....pinkies higher than my index. My pinkies always seemed to not hit the key otherwise, lol. I have not messed w/the tension still. Just letting myself adjust right now. I did have my cables loosen...the ones on the back of it...and it was not writing, lol. So I will double check those before I start any job now! :) It is so much more comfy tho! I am really loving it!

Looks like I'm staying home. It's falling apart. My client can't get an answer from opposing. Tomorrow is off for sure, and Thursday is iffy. I'm giving the job to LeAnne to take care of. I'm swamped anyway.
