So I see Chuck M. is selling a Grand on here after just purchasing it in Oct.

I'm sure you saw that.

Hope you're having a great weekend. We're doing birthdays. My husband's was yesterday, and I know you know Clay's was Friday. We're doing a Sunday brunch today -- soon. We're giving Clay a RT ticket to Key West to see his sister. Just waiting for him to give us the green light on the dates.

I told him I wanted to go, too, but he said no. :)

HI Jenny ~ phew ~ just sent out my last transcript and am going to sit down and play w/ the LS for a bit!! What did you decide ~ are you going w/ the Grand?? I hope things have picked up for you ~ were you able to cover that Santa Cruz job this week?
Okay ~ here I go. I think I'm going to listen to an old wav file from a job for a little and then do the retran thing w/ my configs ~ if I can figure it all out before I have to go to my daughter's classroom at 10 ;))
Happy Friday!!

No jobs this week, of course, lol. But doing some practice on it. Not ready to play w/the tension yet. I think I like it as is....seems to write clean! I will listen to your stories for now, lol.

Yes, I guess that's what you call it. My baby is a barmaid, and, unbelievable as it seems, I really am proud of her. She's been on her own since she was 18 and hasn't asked for a dime. Well, actually I think she did once and we said no such luck. She was making some STUPID decisions that we didn't approve of, and we did the tough love thing, and now she tells us she's glad we did.

She was an awesome softball player and a point guard in basketball with pretty unbelievable hands, so it just makes sense she'd go there with her job.

She didn't know the guy that was taping her and actually didn't even know he was taping. She said she usually always knows.

Said Hulk Hogan's daughter was in last week filming her reality show, and she thinks she might have gotten some footage on the show. She wasn't sure, but they did tape her. They have a mechanical bull in the bar, so Hulk's daughter rode it, etc., and did the crazy party thing. Guess I gotta keep an eye on that show now whenever it comes out. :)

She's also planning on entering into some competitions. Said they're all males down there, so it is a bit intimidating, but I think she'll be fine.

Hope your week has been going great!

I lowered it to 25 so we'll see. I love TM, but I do get the odd words once in a while ~ never even knew what the number was for ~ I guess 50 was default b/c that's what I've always used :)
I'm still plugging away at these pages. I just don't usually have so many pages in one week ~ I'm so not used to working like this. You know how sometimes every job you touch either cancels or is really, really short ~ I had the good vibe of everything I touched was really long. I'm not complaining ~ I should be happy since I was so slow there for a bit ~ hopefully this is a good sign for us all =)
I'll be cleaning w/ you next week AND getting my laundry done ~ hopefully. I think I'll finish these and want to plant or be outdoors ~ that is if I get it done before the next rain is supposed to come. I have some hydrangeas I want to transplant and beds to plant ~ I do think of many things to do when I can't do them, though ;))
Have a great week!

The end of January. The transmittal by the end of Feb. But if your subs are friends/you know them well enough, they'll probably not care anyway. IRS won't know when you get the 1099s out, just the transmittal to them.

Wow, what a pitiful prize to win, but you are the winner!!!

Stop torturing me with the Twilight references!! I just printed so it is reading time -- woohoo!!!!

You can't kid me, you are more than ready!!! That's one aspect that I can be your personal cheerleader. Go Jenny!! Go Jenny!! You got it!! You're worthy!!! Too tired to dig up an emoticon, so you'll have to use your imagination!!

I love it!!! And you convinced me. I'll proof my pathetic 48 pages and then I am hitting the book!!

Should we compare pathetic page counts for the week? Just realized I only had two jobs with a whopping total of 63 pages! I'm guessing the RT job went away because you promised to tell me every detail and I've heard none, lol!!

Jenny! You kill me! I was just up in Rachel's room and saw the third book on her bed, which I still need to finish. She is gone for the evening, so I am trying very hard to resist temptation and stick to the scoping I should be doing. We'll see which part of me wins out tonight, work or play!!

Oh, I slack off plenty. In fact, I'm tired of my page and don't want to wait until tomorrow, Feb, to change it. Going to do it now! To heck with work. ;)

I traded in the Piper for the Rev Grand. Re the stacking, our instinct, or at least mine, was to make those keys (like g ending, etc.) more sensitive. In actuality what you need to do is make those keys LESS sensitive. I know it goes against the way we think, but if it's too sensitive it doesn't give it a sensing break from the first stroke to the second. I'm sure that's not the way Jason would explain it, but it works for my brain!

I love that on the Grand you can adjust everything: force, depth, sensitivity and then also the angles at which you hit the keys by adjusting where you place it. I think the most helpful hint for me was the stacking one I just gave you. Figure out which keys stack and make them less sensitive.

Also, you know when you're looking at the interior "dots" to adjust each key separately? The upper most with the machine as you would write you should adjust a quarter turn at a time (Jason says to use the writing on the screwdriver as a guide), the next level a half turn and the bottom level or ones closest to the keys about three quarters of a turn.

It does take a little fiddling to get it where you want it, but what I did was just picked one problem at a time and then went that way. You don't want to adjust, say, sensitivity, force and depth all at the same time, because one can cause the other to adjust. I believe I got the depth about where I wanted and then adjusted sensitivity. Force doesn't seem to change things as much, so I adjusted that last.

I need to do a little tweaking still on my left T, but my tran rate is back up where I like it and I feel like each day my confidence is getting better.
I did have the quiet touch Piper, but the new Rev Grand blows it out of the water for quietness. It's amazing.

HTH, Steph

Hi Jenny! I was on a Stentura way back when. I'm most recently switching from the Gemini Piper. It was the split keyboard, but the keys were more of an up/down button then the Stentura-type keys. I had a brief period of adjustment and connection problems with this one, but now I am sold. I got the package with the UMPC and it's just amazing. I get comments from people at just about every depo I go to, it's really unusual looking. I love that it's easy to adjust and that I can change my writing position as I need to. Switching to having your hands apart is not as hard as you might think, just go gradually. I can't imagine writing with a traditional machine ever again!

Jason is really helpful, but if you can't get hold of him and there's anything I can help with (or try anyway) let me know.

Oh, and definitely let me know how the Grand goes!! I always thought those machines looked so hard to get used to ~ but then here I am on the LS, which looks just as weird ;))

Thanks, Jenny!! My page looks so good, because I got slammed the last two weeks w/ work and, of course, do many other things when I should be working. I'm such a procrastinator:)) I was going to take this week off to get caught up b/c I still have about 550 pages out that are due next week (remember those two really long days? it's from then!) I did take an emergency job for a friend yesterday that, of course, is expedited for Monday. It was only about 60 pages, though! I'm trying to enjoy the work b/c I'm sure I'll have a slow period or cancellation perion soon. I'm sorry about your 22 pages ~ I hate weeks like that when you're ready for lots of pages!!
So I unchecked that one box on the LS (can't remember what it is right now!) and yesterday was okay. I haven't done the retran yet w/ different configs. I know I need to, but since I don't know how to do it real quick, I'm waiting until I'm caught up on work ~ next week, I'm hoping!!
I'm sending you really good, positive job/page karma for February =))
