Does anyone know how I could define the ellipsis in my dictionary so that Eclipse won't put in the automatic question mark at the end of a question or add another period at the end of an answer?  I currently have it defined as {~}.{~}.{~}.

Thanks!

Working through it with Eclipse tech support, the problem seems to have been my default recorder setting and the compression rate.  I've changed both of those.  New compression rate 22.050 kHz at 16 bits.  Much better now.  I'm still not sure it's as good a playback as I was getting on Version 4 at the lower compression rate.

Some comfort to know I'm not the only one working on a Saturday morning.

As soon as I get this transcript out today, I'm calling Eclipse support.  Thanks for the unanimous advice.

Freddie, my first suggestion would be to make sure you're on at least Version 5.0.0.14.  Yesterday Jeremy posted Version 5.0.0.15 on the Advantage site.  I didn't get a chance to test it out, although I did load it on my HP.  I agree with the other posters - call support.

Freddie, you really should call support.  If you don't have a support contract anymore, then I'd suggest beginning the trial-and-error compression-changing game.  Just take an hour out of your day off and plug in your mike and start playing around with it.  I don't have my mike plugged in right now, but I can tell you that my setting is higher than 11.025 kHz.  I think it's somewhere between 16 and 22.  The higher the kHz, the more memory it gobbles up.  But, to me, a good audio backup is totally worth it.  I use DropBox to transfer my files to my scopist, and it seems to transfer the files quicker than YouSendIt or any other file transfer site I've used over the years.  Sorry I don't have a quick-and-easy answer for you.  I hope this helps a litte at least.

Haven't loaded up Eclipse 5 myself, but from what I read, your problem is typical.  Advantage already has a patch for that.  Give Tech Support a call so they can walk you through downloading it and getting it set up.

I have recently begun using Eclipse 5 and am having an issue with the audio quality.  Just as in Eclipse 4, my compression settings are PCM 11.025 kHz, 8 bit, mono, 10 kb/sec.  But on Eclipse 5, the playback quality is distorted.  I thought maybe the recording level might be too high so I dialed that down, but the distortion is still present.  The distortion manifests itself in a scratchy sound.  I'm on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61.

I hate to start trying to change my compression level because it's such a tedious trial-and-error game.

Any suggestions?

I need an Eclipse Version 5 scopist right now to help me with a rush.  Not medical or technical.  If I should have posted this somewhere else, forgive me!  jenlug@pacbell.net

Read the Windows 7 and Eclipse discussion by Janet McHugh. She has the 64-bit Windows 7, maybe that will help you.
