Does anyone know the command to remove the ending from a word, I think it's called "shaving" it?

Thanks for all the input. I just recently bought a new computer that has windows 7 on it and I also had to buy a new usb to serial adapter because my computer couldn't find the driver to the old one. Anyway, it seems to be disconnecting more often, which is frustrating because I am a CART provider. I will need to find a male/male adapter to hook the serial cable directly into my computer, but I think I will look into that.
Thanks again.

I've chosen to use the serial to PCMCI serial adapter. I've never had a problem with connections. I have the Passport and my bluetooth works great, but I choose to use the serial adapter to avoid any problems.

I am actually on the LightSpeed writer from Stenovations, which I love. Most of the new machines can be connected to your computer without the necessity of a USB to Serial cable, though. I had a hard time believing that was the problem, because I had the same USB to serial cable for 5 years, and it worked fine. When I replaced it, my new one started giving me freezing problems within a few months, but they had to be right, because since I've eliminated the cable, I haven't had an issue.

My experience and also advice from the techs is do not use a USB serial port adapter. I was on a same-day delivery realtime trial and my realtime kept freezing. I tried everything from playing with the attorney's computer, restarting my computer over and over, changing USB ports. Then when I hooked from my Stentura 8000 directly to my serial port on my computer, it worked like a charm. I never used the USB serial port adapter again.

Lori-what writer areyou using? I will say that I had issues with my Stentura 8000 and no amount of trouble shooting would explain realtime going "poof." Then I'd jiggle the cable and it'd pick back up. Maddening.

I talked to my servicing folks who said that eventually, continual use of a USB>serial adapter will burn out the port. I just replaced the port in my Stentura

Now strictly use serial>serial (work in a court so have that convenience of using a desktop) but am looking into eventually replacing it.

Are you using a serial to USB adapter? Tech support told me that was my problem when this was happening. I didn't believe them at first, but turns out they were right. The cord I had just all of a sudden started having intermittent issues with realtime. Now that I am on a new machine, and I have a straight USB to mini-USB connection, I haven't lost my feed.

Can anyone tell me what the most common cause for the realtime translation disconnecting or I guess any cause for that?
