Trouble reading Mira SD card into Eclipse

Hi, I'm using the student version of Eclipse and am wondering if there's a way to take the SD card out of my Mira and read it into Eclipse. I've switched my "read from" to the drive where the card is…Continue

Archiving SD cards 2 Replies

Does anyone have any good ideas for archiving SD cards? They're fairly cost-effective, so I tend to just hold on to them. But they're so small that I haven't figured out a decent way to identify…Continue

Dear fellow court reporters.  I am looking for a good external microphone for my laptop.  Does anybody have any good suggestions?  I know the Elan Mira A3 has a mic port also.  Does anybody use a mic on their writer or just the laptop?  Looking for good advise.  Thanks!!

I had a problem with the SD card.  I could not find one here in town that would work.  They had to send me one.  It turned out that was not the problem.  It was the mother board.

I think they are going to discontinue servicing them.  There are other places you will be able to get the serviced when they don't service them anymore like Topcat Steno and Steno Doctor.

They are trying to get people to stop using that writer and buy the Diamonte.

I just looked on their website and it says, "Supports SD cards from 1GB to 32GB. 4GB Data SD card and Backup SD card are included in the writer."   They don't even list the Mira on their site anymore.

You could buy a used Mira for $500.  I would not put that much money into that writer.  I have a Mira but I have kept my under a maintenance contract.  I just had to have it repaired for the first time.  I think they replace the circuit board.  It was nine years old.  That's a pretty good run.  If your choice is spending that much money, I would get a different writer.

LeAnne, No, I didn't have a maintenance contract.  And you have a point about the SD card.  I wonder if the Diamante uses the 2GB SD card.

Were you on a maintenance contract?  I'm not sure I could spend $2000 to repair when a new one is $5000, especially since it's getting harder and harder to find 2GB SD cards.  I feel like my Mira is going to be obsolete soon just from the SD card standpoint.

My Mira screen went out and the bad news went to worst news: $475 if it was just the display to $1950 for the circuit board. I bought it in 2009 and I never dropped it.  I hate to spend that much money on another just to have it happen again.

I bought the Diamante last year and love it.  The touch is a bit lighter, and I'm having fewer issues with stacking and splitting.

I am wondering how many of you are thinking about upgrading to the Diamante?

I'm going to try it and see how I do. Thanks!
