I'm sure he meant "imprimatur," but he sure didn't say "imprimatur." I thought maybe "importor" is a word I'd just never heard of.

Oops! I spelled it wrong. It should be "imprimatur".

I think the word you're looking for is "imprimateur". It means approval, permission, sanction. Does it fit?

Help! Weird word alert!
"And IRC interpreted it that way even though this is an LAPD document with no importor of having come from a court."
He's pronouncing it [im-por-TORR]. It's not "importer." He's trying to say "with no indication or clue of having come from a court," but I haven't a clue what the word is. Maybe it's French? Help!

Well, they really do sound the same. I think I should just assume he was saying gradients since that's a word and gradience isn't.
Comment by Phil Stillerman on April 21, 2009 at 13:26
I'd go with gradients -- I'm sure the speaker just mispronounced it.

Gradience. Seems like a word, doesn't it? I can't find it anywhere. Gradient is a word but not gradience. I'm thinking he's saying gradients, but I'm not positive. Here's the sentence:
Do you have any recollection as to the color or any color gradients in the bruising of this gentleman's sclera?

My husband builds houses and doesn't know what it is. I would opt for proax (sic).
Comment by Rosalie DeLeonardis on April 20, 2009 at 15:59
It doesn't have anything to do with wiring. The man worked for a company doing drywall work. The attorney tried to clarify the word also, but interpreter kept saying the same thing. I might just go ahead and use proax, if proax is made out of steel and used to place in between each stud to build a column. Thank you for your help.

Just found proax triax jack from a company that does something with security that proudly serves the Armed Forces. Still has something to do with wiring. So if this isn't a wiring harness, I dunno. Look on Dogpile for proax triax jack.
