Thank you, Angela, I never knew that about peanut butter. I will certainly try that.

It looks like I may pass all my 200 Q and A's before I pass my Jurys. Jurys aren't my cup of tea. I know the briefs but I just can't get into a good rythm with it. My teacher says that I am not dropping anything, I am just writing the wrong words. I might need to move closer. When I am home I practice 240 Jury's on Realtime Coach, everything comes up nice. When I get to school I don't know what happens it must be my nerves. Maybe I need to spray some lavender LOl

Great plan, Angela! How did practicing go? Congrats on passing your 100 QA! Are you finding it helpful to to the top 1000 words?

Laurie, I don't do Simply Steno, but I looked into at one point when I thought I was moving from my school, and it is a program that is straight up speed building. They accept students that learned any theory, but they have to know their theory solidly and be writing 60 wpm. Hopefully Angela (or someone else) can correct me if I'm wrong. I've only heard great things about SS, though!

Okay, we can do this, friends! We just need to get through the summer slump and keep on moving those fingers. I went out on an internship job today and it was really motivating. I can keep up with almost everything except for when they are yelling at each other/talking over each other. That is GOOD news and proof that we can all make it there. How long are you going to practice tonight? I have 2 hours of writing in already today - hoping to get 2 more hours of high-speed practice in, and editing my transcript from today. What are you going to do for practice today?

Who told you you were going to "have MUCH MORE FREE TIME!"???

They lied.

I still LOVE being a court reporter, though.

I'm bumming I missed the convention, too, Virginia.

Motivation? What's that? :) It's hard to stay motivated sometimes. Especially when you're stuck. (200 for over a year) It gets really frustrating sometimes when you feel you're moving at a snails' pace.

I second Jackie! I too don't like my job. It's just a job to pay the bills... period! I CANNOT WAIT till I'm a CSR, so I can make the $$$, be very proud of myself for having accomplished what only an elite few can (like us all one day!), and have MUCH MORE FREE TIME! Right now I go to school full-time and work part-time, plus try and transcribe freelance whenever jobs get thrown my way. Not to mention, I still WANT to have a life outside this... but this is seriously the lowest of all priorities right now.

Angela, I think MY biggest motivator for practicing during summer break is to PAY NOW, PLAY LATER! :) Like you, all I WANT TO DO IS PLAY... but I also know it's not very realistic for me... 'cause I don't just want a summer break to do that, I want my ENTIRE CAREER to be like play! Does that make sense?

What I also try to do is plan my entire day, week, and month, so I know for sure what every day is (more likely than not) going to look like. And I try my best to stick to that schedule!

Hope that helps... and sorry if my ramblings didn't make any sense! I tried! But I haven't had coffee yet! Hehehe.

I'm a Steno Nerd!

Angela, it is hard! Especially in the summer, when vacations are calling my name every other weekend. :) I'm just returning from a 5-day trip to SC for a wedding...getting back into practicing this evening!
My whole day is a motivator for me. I'm not too fond of my current job, so when I go home all grumpy it helps to remind me that the sooner I get done with school, the sooner I can get out of there! :)

How's everybody doing? Practicing hard? We will reap the benefits! I've been getting up an hour early before work and practicing an extra hour in addition to what I usually do after work - trying to get 4 hours a day - some days succeeding, and some not. My endurance is getting better and I'm already seeing results! I have 4 tests left - one jury at 200 and three Q&A at 225. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
