Okay. I'm sorry that there may have been a blog about this in the past, but I am really truly thinking about hopping on the LS train. I do have an Elan Mira A3, one of the most expensive writers out there you can get. Therefore, I am really nervous about possibly "downgrading". I know it seems silly just to base it on the prices, but it just makes me wonder if the LS is the thing for me. I don't use the audio or the screen on my A3, because I'm always hooked up to my laptop anyway. So really…

Just received an email from Cover Depos that Majestic Reporting is looking for someone to cover a job. Has anyone worked for them? I see that they're a relatively new agency. Just wondering how they are to work for.
Thanks for any info!

Hello,
I took a depo wherein the atty asked me to mark the transcript. The witness took her atty's advice not to answer a question. The deposing atty then asked me to mark the transcript.
I've not been faced with this before. Any suggestions on what the blurb would be and what I need to include on my INDEX page, if anything.
Thanks!

Click on the blue links to get to the sites.
December 2009 he's in a Walmart Christmas commercial where he's outside of his house with his neighbor, digging through trash. The neighbor is looking for the hairbrush for Rapunzel Barbie, and Jeff gives his best exasperated look. Oooh, me so proud. Can't find it online yet or else I'd give a link here. If anyone else finds a link, let me know!! Thanks!

Hi Everyone.....I'm sure all the Eclipse users love their software and so do the Case Catalyst users, but those darn sales people are way too good! They keep confusing me. I am going to upgrade and switch over from Open Stenocat and am in need of some first-hand advice from others who have made the move from one software to another, especially from Stenocat to Eclipse and Case and how easy the transition was, also if you switched from/to Eclipse and Case and the reasons why and your experience,…

I had a situation the other day where it was an interpreted depo. The defense atty is the questioning atty. However, a lot of times during the depo the plf's atty would interrupt the interpreter and start speaking to his client in his native tongue. So of course, the dfs atty and I didn't know what was being said. Do you guys think that I should put in a blurb every time this happened. It was often enough for me to notice and see that the defs atty was getting frustrated.
Help!!!! What…

Okay. I finally tried texting. I had a cell phone but I never texted. In fact, I didn't even have that service. Recently I added it on. It's been great. I have more contact with one friend who I can never, ever get ahold of. You call and call and she never returns your calls. (Anyhoo, that's another rant).
Back to our regularly scheduled program.
Do you realize how difficult it is to text when you are used to writing out everything and making sure everything is correct. I…

Can anybody help me out with the proper wording to use when the reporter must "cite the witness"? I remember this from court reporting school about 12 years ago, but it's vague in my mind since I've never had to do it. Well, I've just been given a heads up that my questioning attorney may want to "cite" her witness tomorrow. Help!

I am exploring other options to finish my CR training. Glen, here on CRnation suggested "SimplySteno". Has anyone else heard of it? It is definitely more affordable than the $4,000 a term I am dishing out at a campus school.
Do I have to complete a state accredited school in order to take the RPR or CSR?

I've been in school now for almost a year. Unfortunately, this will probably be my last term. Up until the beginning of this year I have managed to only work 3 days a week, and go to school. I currently work for the airline industry as a Flight Attendant and have been employed by my company for over 10 years. I guess I should of saw this coming, but every since our economy has been offiicially "tanked", I now only have about 2 years seniority. I am back "on-call" and can't hold a schedule which…

lol. Okay, maybe not my whole life, but for quite a few years. I finally joined magnum steno club today, and I have already learned so much!!!
Although, doing those speed takes, I just don't know if I am ever going to get there. I feel "dumb" sometimes, like my brain is just too slow and will go on being slow forever. Are there people out there that just have a slow brain that will never pick up speed? I surely hope not, because this is something I want to conquer!!!

I am seeking advice from anyone with experience running a deposition agency on how I would go about starting my own. I was a Los Angeles Superior Court Reporter for 15 years, so I don't have actual hands-on experience with depositions. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

There is a Bill before the Judicial-Media Committe, Sub Committe Audio Recording of Court Proceedings in the State of Connecticut allowing for audio recording of proceedings. This Bill, if passed, could have potentially dire consequences for freelancers as well as officials. Please send an email to choward@goodwin.com with a copy to support@ctreporting.org to voice your opposition to the Bill.

okay:) One last question for tonight... lol.
I wanted opinions on how important or valuable it is to be a member of NCRA, if it is at all. I have not done it only because of the amount of money everything costs; the dues and then to take the RPR and everything like that. I have an AAS in Court Reporting and graduated with a 3.76. Isn't that enough? I was told I was not going to make more money either if I am certified, but yet they do want me to take the RPR. And now I've got the…

Hello, everyone! I just for some reason am having a problem remembering the exact procedure for identifying exhibits. Is it when the exhibit is first mentioned (i.e., I'll have this marked as Exhibit Number 1) or is it when they actually talk about what the exhibit is? I appreciate all of the help!!!

Monday (3/16) I am going to cover my first internet streaming job. I have done realtime for attorneys many times. On this job they would like internet streaming simultaneously w/ realtime for the attorneys who are actually in the room. We can get the internet streaming to work but can't seem to get the realtime to work so far. Any tips, thoughts, ideas?
Thanks,
Janiece
